I had one of these for a short while before selling it to a mate a 500 Ariel Red Hunter mine was a 57, I had to replace the cork clutch [individual segments] and to be honest it was a joy to ride, thump thump every lamppost as they say and when going down a narrow street with high buildings either side you blipped the throttle and pulled on the advance retard lever to let out an almighty bang to wake the dead, oh for being young and a twat

While not professing to be as much as an expert on Old Brits as someone on a different forum i do luv old british iron as much as if not more than modern stuff , granted the prices have rocketed since the advent of Fleabay but if you intend to buy to restore and keep for yourself then its easier to justify the price i feel , as for spares the is a myriad of Brit bike breakers out there if you look hard enough , they really dont need to advertise that much , word of mouth is enough , within 3 miles of me there is an old house where the Royal Welsh Fusiliers where based years ago and it has a drill hall attatched to it in the middle of a residential area , you wouldnt know its there but there must be over £500,000 worth of British projects and spares in there , its my heaven , and across the road from it there is a town house with a huge basement , you have to book an appointment to go but the man is one of the leading people in the Uk for Z900 and Z650 spares and project bikes , you just dont know it exists , sorry for the rambling on but spares are out there for most things if you look hard enough

Agree with @Flynnt20 spares are available and various owners club's even have manufactured parts, for the Ariel I used Dragonfly motorcycles who had everything you could need, a lot of the original drawings and tooling is also owned by clubs and engineering firms, and firms like Lucas still have electrical parts under their classic range and even upgrading to things like 12v is also available.
