Hawthorne is a lovely little village, yeah he's still around, I've not heard much of him lately though. My Nan was from a little village just outside Seaham called Hawthorn.
I called in to Seaham on the way back from a tour of Jockistan & Skye. I wanted to see the beautiful idyllic place Nan often spoke about.
I'll tell you the full story over a beer at some point Pete.
But the short version is the owner of the B&B told myself & my mate not to go in any of the pubs around the harbour (especially not the Golden Lion) due to our obvious southern accents.
Obviously we ignored her advice.
It was a very interesting evening mate
We met a local gentleman called Brian Cockerill aka "The Tax Man". Is he still alive & kicking?
It was in the one I said first, it's not by fault you can't follow directions!Very smart Billy
Sorry it took me so long to find this thread but some feckin retard gave me the wrong directions!![]()

I'm very glad to hear that Seaham has been spruced up Pete.Hawthorne is a lovely little village, yeah he's still around, I've not heard much of him lately though.
He is a very interesting chap, I've never met him but his stories are golden round my way.
Seahams not as bad as it used to be back in the day, it's had serious investment pumper in so it's a nice place now.
If your ever up my way again Dd please pop in buddy.![]()
I must admit that I find my SDR very comfortable, fast as fook, but comfortable!First time in forever since I went in my garage and only wanted to take a bike out that belongs to me and not my missus.
I get off from each ride without aches or pains in my arms, the build quality is fab and it's as fast as fook.
I'm completely smitten Billy so much so the rockets going, I've put it up for sale.I must admit that I find my SDR very comfortable, fast as fook, but comfortable!
I can understand that mate, probably all the bike you need, you can actually bimble around nice and steady in complete comfort, but when you fancy a play by Christ do they go! The anti wheelie means you can pin it knowing that the front wheel will only get to maybe 6 inches off the floor, I haven't yet been brave enough to switch all the electronics off, still getting used to the bike TBH, it definitely makes my race bike feel a bit lame by comparison.I'm completely smitten Billy so much so the rockets going, I've put it up for sale.
Good on you mate, when you know what's right go for itI'm completely smitten Billy so much so the rockets going, I've put it up for sale.
Completely agree with everything you said, I use street mainly, sport mode is terrifying, 5th gear 111mph and the front wheel lifts WTFI can understand that mate, probably all the bike you need, you can actually bimble around nice and steady in complete comfort, but when you fancy a play by Christ do they go! Do you leave it in street mode or use sport?
I have tried sport mode, but it makes the bike a bit too responsive if you get what I mean (twitchy), throttle response is even more immediate, fine on a nice smooth bit of tarmac but scary as fook when on Britain's finest bumpy, potholed mess of a road system, very easy to hit a bump coming out of a corner & end up with more throttle input that you actually wanted. But yes 5th gear (controlled) wheelies are what you get in sport, the bike just gets on with making progress in double quick time.Completely agree with everything you said, I use street mainly, sport mode is terrifying, 5th gear 111mph and the front wheel lifts WTF
Its definitely the only bike I need and won't ever turn the AIDS off! I just love AIDS and having them on buddy.![]()
And they are not cheap either! Jeez, I could save the weight over a standard one by going on a diet! Not just fast, these sell fast
