I had adjusted the handlebars forward to try & get a bit more weight over the front wheel (for cornering, nothing to do with wheelies!), when I started the bike the throttle was really stiff/sticking. There is a groove in the throttle housing in which sits a lug on the mirror clamp, I had moved the mirror up the bar slightly which obviously was causing pinching the throttle end, took me 15 mins to sort it out which meant I turned up late at the meeting point & the other assumed I wasn't out. So had a ride on my own until I caught them up at the Haven Cafe near Salisbury, the SD really is a mad bike, the ease that it reaches 3 figure speeds is bonkers!

My adjustment of the bars didn't really have the desired affect, I think I may have to change the bars for some flat ones as the one on there have quite a pronounced lift in them & rolling them forward made the lift even higher, actually made my arms ache trying to hang on in that position.
I decided also that the bike s really a bit too loud with the baffle out so put that back in after I came back, me & the lads are away doing a bit of a tour for a few days later in the month, didn't fancy getting a pull by the police while away.
I still haven't even checked what settings the suspension is on, I just tend to get on & ride it, it feels fine apart from the slight vague feeling from the front when cornering hard, however this is likely have more to do with the style of the bike than poor set up, but will check it before we go away.
Hiya buddy, try the comfort setting (recommended by ktm and 44teeth) I've just returned from my trip and the bike felt superb.

Comfort setting=PieEater setting?

Joking aside the few vehicles I've driven (only cars) with 'modes' I've found the one labelled comfort to be the most useable. I don't know why it has that label tho, found the dynamic modes too crudely agressive in an unhelpful way and could make progress faster in comfort mode.

Christ, the comfort setting on my GT (electronic suspension admittedly) is anything but comfortable. More like pogo stick setting. I’ve got to use Sport to get good handling on the bloody awful roads around here.

I have to admit I haven’t so much as looked at the manual let alone actually changed any settings yet!

I am spoiled with the race bike as it has had the suspension rebuilt specifically for my weight & style on a race track, though this setting would probably rattle my fillings out on the roads!
Experience tells me going for too firm a setting on the road doesn’t work, it’s always a compromise between handling & comfort, so may well set up in comfort mode as a base setting then work from there. I will start by counting all settings where they are now, at least then if I make a mess off it I know where I started from!
On another issue, still finding Street mode better for road riding, Sport is way too aggressive for our bumpy pot hole plagued roads, I have a quick action throttle & a bump at the wrong moment can mean throttle input when you don’t necessarily want it!

Fitting a power commander works wonders, had mine in track mode every day and honestly it felt fantastic.
Tyres and suspension felt fantastic, the comfort setting makes the bike less nervous round corners, it did for me anyway, don't get me wrong I ain't no expert advanced rider tho.

You have a Gen 2 version, my mate who has owned both reckons they tamed the aggression slightly making it easier to ride on the Gen 2, mine is very aggressive, probably the mods to full decat Evo exhaust, revised map & the quick action throttle have all added to the 'Beast' experience!

I need to spend time getting it set up, then actually ride it in both modes more to fully get my head round what works best for a given situation, best doing this when riding on my own as group riding has it's own challenges that don't go well with trying to set up a bike.

I think track mode on yours is something they added, mine has rain, street or sport. I do notice when in sport it wants to wheelie a lot more, nothing that the TC doesn't sort out, haven't yet been brave enough to turn off the TC, I predict massive wheelies if I do!

They are an awesome bit of kit, but I do sometimes wonder if I actually need 170bhp on a naked bike, if I was riding against myself on a 120bhp 765RS Street down a set of twisties I don't think there would be a whole lot to choose between them?

I agree. I had a spirited ride with a new rider mate who was riding a busa. He couldn't keep up with me on the 675, but for obvious reasons caught me on the straights, and he wasn't by far an inexperienced rider, but I was moving at some speed, evening locking up the rear a few times when approaching bends. The route i planned took everything, A, B roads, inclined bends, cattle grids, humps, bumps, jumps for some, i spent a lot of time out of my seat on some B roads lol

I can't see any reason to move on from my street other than that bastard overtook me on the dual carriageway on the way back and that pi55ed me off lol

The reason I sold my 765RS & bought the RC8 was after returning from Spain where my Sportsbike riding mates were getting away from me on the fast sweeping stuff, then round the tight & twisty bits they got in the way!

I know that swap didn't end well coz the RC8 got totalled after only 3 weeks, but with hindsight it was not a good choice to change based on what happened on a holiday to biking Nirvana!

I completely agree but you know our dicks are telling us!

I just found a great bike on Auto Trader.

Any thoughts on this please.
Given your prev thread about gearing I think you're looking for a torquier engine. Can't comment on the specific bike.

Apols for being off topic.

100%.

I'm going to test ride the speed 1200 as well as this, from what I know the KTM is more of an animal than the speed.
