FWIW I think our major problem is the recruitment pool.

Labour has this weird cap doffing affection for rich, well educated types who pretend to be socialists (in reality venal self serving shits) or knuckle draggers with impeccable union attendance records. We have one of each at the top now with Starmer and Rayner.

The Tories are daft for Eton and Oxbridge where they clone for the cocktail party circuit. The allow a few rough ones in to create the appearance of normality but don’t let’em near the reins. I mean, look what happened when that grammar school girl got in! No, far better to have a bluffer from Eton with a useless Classics degree and an over active libido. Practical intelligence is expressly forbidden.

The Lib Dems? Terminally confused and up their own Jacksies with imagined virtue and a bizarre desire to be different and smug and deeply stupid and with all the worst vices of both other major parties. Oxbridge and Red Brick university. We don’t want no polytech here, thank you very much. Sexual deviant? Oh in that case we’re prepared to make an exception. Did I mention that being egalitarian we particularly like the Honours system and House of Lords.

There is actually a lot to be said for a 'benevolent dictator' if you can find one. Supposedly MacBeth, who was made into a villain by old Willie Shakespeare was actually a pretty good King to his people. Logically if you have one guy who wants to look after and keep his property (the Kingdom) in fine fettle and is a hard enough bastard to knock down all the sneaky gits who would seek to feather their own nests you stand a better chance of having a good country than if you have a few million people all with their own ideas of what is right and wrong etc. where you have politics being twisted this way and that until it reaches a point where it ends up pandering to all manner of minorities and making laws for the few while neglecting the overall picture and the wellbeing of the many. Sound familiar?

That is, indeed, the problem @Sarky B’stard I have no doubt that it is possible to find that ideal ruler but the big problem would be keeping a good system around them to properly advise and support not to mention a very strong body guard as there will be no shortage of self seeking people and people so convinced of their own superiority that they believe they should be ruler. That ideal benevolent ruler couldn't exist alone in a vacuum and, of course they would also have to watch out for their own family members as history has proven that family can't be trusted when power is up for grabs. The problem with all 'Ideal Worlds' including Democracy and Communism is that they fall flat when they meet up with basic human nature.

I'll take the title of Lord Protector of the United Kingdom of Great Britain & NI.

Would nationalise key utilities, reduce rates for small companies, simplify the taxation system, politicians in my government would need real world experience to run the departments they operate (and no outside financial interests). death penalty introduced for serious crime. introduce a percentage of wealth scale for court fines rather than set amounts (both personal and corporate). procurement would be weighted to UK companies. Overseas aid to be reduced to 0.1% with priority to oversea territories. Thinning of layers of management in all national institutions. Restructure of education system to follow more work life related system (9-5, two week holidays spread more evenly etc). Raising vehicle driving age to 18 for cars with CBT being mandatory part of the driving pre-test. Anyone with class A illicit substance misuse, put in 7 day crash reduction program and dealers are executed. Tuition fees are written off for graduates of certain professions. Increase military spending with closer working with civil public services. Reduce planning regulations with clear regional long term (25yrs+) infrastructure growth & redevelopment plans. Taxes would also be ring fenced to spending for the cost of that area (ie smoking taxes to health, driving taxes to transport infrastructure mainly but also health etc). And if you have read this far, I will also execute any twat that wants to ban motorcycles.

Now that's a manifesto I can get behind, with some additions, here are a few...

  • Turnstyles on entry to supermarkets, restaurants, and fast food outlets, so if you are too fat you can't get in.
  • Anyone who claims to be hurt by words, is to be birched so they gain an understanding of real hurt.
  • Anyone who practices or preaches positive racial discrimination, or promotes unconscious racial bias education, to be deported to a country that really is racist.
  • All convicted peadophiles to be branded with a large 'P' on the forehead (Red Dwarf Rimmer style) with a red hot branding iron, and then released in to society with all their human rights revoked.
  • Pedal cyclists who do not ride in single file within 1 foot of the left road edge, to be fair game for all other vehicles.
  • Any so called celebrity from the entertainment or sporting world who is guity of hypocritical virtue signalling, to be placed in public stocks naked for 7 days and pelted with rotten fruit, dog turds, etc.
  • Any sports person or entertainer who makes any kind of political statement or demonstration before, during or after a sporting/entertainment event to be forced to refund the entry fee of all the spectators, and then donate 90% of their future earnings to the cause they claim to support.
I could add many more, but that will do for a start 😜
