Not to pressure anyone, each according to their means.
That's the problem though Chas.
If everyone fessed up to what they throw in. Some folk could feel pressured whilst some will feel they could give less.
I only told Sarky as it was the second time he'd asked. In hindsight, I should have PM'd him.
Leaving it as a completely voluntary thing should mean that folk will give either what they can afford or what the forum is worth to them. However, they are also free to not chip in at all.
If we haven't got enough in the kitty by the end of the year. I'll get Judd in a headlock until he spills the beans about how much he needs. The current plan (because he won't tell me how much he needs) is to let everyone chip in that wishes to. Then if we have too much it'll sit there & make 2023 even cheaper. If we don't have enough, I'd like to think Judd would say so. Unfortunately, I think the reality is that he'd make up the difference rather than ask us lot.
My gut feeling is that if the forum continues to steadily grow at the same rate it has been after the initial influx. Then it won't be too long before £5pp will cover the running costs.
Until then I'll happily chip in more for a place to chew the fat with like minded folk.
In a place with no annoying adverts or thin skinned Cockwombles
