I'd much rather wear tight shoes than have another triumph. 😳🤣
I took an original speedie out after I lost my Gixxer in the mid 90's and was underwhelmed, felt crude, top heavy and like an 80s bike.
I've had a lot of niggles with my current speedie (bought it looking for something else, had a TL1000 lined up) but I *love* the power delivery of the triple. Suits what I want from a bike perfectly.

I gotta say that, despite it's problems I wouldn't part with my Daytona. It's all the speed and acceleration I need. The way I can see all those little cars disappearing backwards in my mirrors and that screaming triple give me a serious grin every time. I just can't get into the KTM's look at all and the Daytona is all the craziness I need without actually really trying to kill myself. KTM's do seem to be everywhere at the moment round my way. Pass through Inveraray and the car park on the front is like a KTM dealership. It doesn't help either that I really don't like the colour Orange.

I love the older triumphs don't go thinking I hate them with my comments, I used to bleed them at one point but not the new stuff, rocket, speed rs, ownership of those left a bitter taste that's all.
Ktm ownership has been great, trips away, comfort, power, robust feeling I get far surpasses modern triumphs imo and hey just vinyl wrap the orange parts 😂😂 if your not keen? 😜

I just found a great bike on Auto Trader.

Any thoughts on this please.
Looks a nice bike mate, as Pete says you would get on cheaper private but dealer gives a little more peace of mind. If you haven’t already, join the Super Duke 1290 owners page on fb there’s a lot of info on there & bikes for sale. Gen 2 is a good choice as I understand it, Gen 1 is a little raw for some & Gen 3 has been changed to behave less like a V2, what’s the point of that. If you get one I don’t expect you’ll ever think that you could do with a bit more power mate!
I am still in 2 minds as to whether they are a bit too much for the road, but going away for a bit a a UK tour this time next week so will have 5 solid days riding to get used to it.

How can you spot a gen 2 from a gen 3

There are 10 of us heading out Thursday, doing a bit of the Cotswolds & then ended up in Stratford Upon Avon for 1 night, then Friday we're heading up to Boston for 3 nights (was supposed to be Skegness but Hotel cancelled our booking?).

Once at Boston the plan is to explore out each day, North Lincs, Yorkshire etc, never really been out that way on a bike before, roads look good so will have fun no doubt.

Hiya buddy, try the comfort setting (recommended by ktm and 44teeth) I've just returned from my trip and the bike felt superb.
I checked my settings on Sunday, everything was set to 'Sport', fine for nice smooth sweeping roads or track, but on the pot hole infested UK roads it was shaking my fillings out, for now I have reset everything to standard rather than go the full hog to comfort, will see how that feels & adjust as necessary from there.

Sounds great buddy, Yorkshire definitely has some great roads alright!

Mine was in sport setting it definitely made the bike feel unsettling.
I'd definitely at least put the comfort setting on the rear, as it seams to squat better on acceleration and makes it less prone to wheelies......ish 😂

I don't mind a wheelie!

I will see how the bike feels on standard first, before making any further changes, the trouble is I have been spoiled with the Aprilia race bike suspension having been custom sprung & valved specifically for my weight & riding style, it handles so well every thing else feels inferior.
