£40 for a 1hr charge that won't even allow you to cover 200 miles! 😳
I'll stick with fossil fuels for as long as possible...

Has any clever number cruncher ever done the sums re the real world 10yr costs to the owner & the environment. Of owning a medium sized diesel engined car for 10yrs. V's the true costs of owning an electric vehicle?

I read years ago that the most eco friendly 4 wheeler (when all things are taken into consideration) would be a basic Land Rover. Even a diesel version might struggle to return 30mpg in general use. And they are old tech so they don't have DPF's, AdBlue, stop/start etc etc.
But they aren't throw away vehicles like most are.
When you consider that a.n.other 1980's Defender is probably still in use & is still giving sterling service. Then factor in the costs to the environment of producing a new pack of batteries for an electric vehicle every 10yrs or so.
Greta Thunberg should be driving between meetings in a Series one or two 2.25 petrol model!

The electric car is a huge con to make money. From what I understand, the environmental cost of manufacturing the batteries and the vehicle are worse than petrol or diesel vehicles and, of course, when the batteries die at less than ten years old their disposal will be an environmental disaster not to mention all those who will die inside their electric vehicle after a smash while waiting for the emergency services to 'make safe' the vehicle so they can get them out. Stupidity and gullibility are the real environmental disaster that is sweeping the planet.

I saw a program recently where someone (Guy Martin?) drove from one end of the country to the other and the cost of electric ‘filling’ was significantly more expensive than the diesel/petrol would have been!!

And many charging points were out of order, which is quite telling….

I think electric cars are going in the same direction as 3D televisions…..

I think electric vehicles will be more popular in 15 / 20 years than they are now but i think fossil fuels will remain the dominant option , lets be honest Boris saying we not be allowed to buy a petrol or deeezul vehicle in a few years was just a way of securing a generation of voters , do we honestly believe the people who own and run this planet , the oil families, are just going to roll over without a fight ?

I noticed an article t'other day that suggested that one of the Japanese car manufacturers was thinking about going into 're-furbishment' to 'save waste and prolong working life' of their products. I wonder if that is a sign that manufacturers are contemplating the possibility that, if a ban is introduced on selling new ICE vehicles as proposed, they could get around it by making their money keeping existing ICE vehicles on the road.

I hope that will be the case, but I fear government will price ICE vehicles off the road using; tax, road pricing, clean air zones 🙄, increased fuel cost, reduced fuel availability. That is unless more people start to push back and tell government to f**k off!!
