I'm hoping in a couple of years the 400 Himmys are going to be cheap enough to pick up to lob an alt motor in. I reckon the commuter 500s (er5, cb500) would be a good donor.

There's a cheap (non runner) KLE 500 Kwak locally I've seen but the advert is written in redardese. Not sure if it's a fixer or it's being sold as a non runner because it's fucked as fuck and they want to hide a wrecked engine.

I've an itch for a single track road bop around bike so have been looking around but there is not much out there

I purchased one of those new in April 1995
A fantastic bike & the engine is the bomb proof twin from the GPZ500 🙂

Comfy, good on road handling, a bit of off road ability (mainly green lanes)

Some posh tw@t reversed into it with his horse box/4x4 in a petrol station then tried to drive off 😡
Unfortunately for him I was with approx 10 mates.
I'll spare you the details but the short version is his insurance payed for the damage. Including a new pair of gloves that got ripped by broken glass on his 4x4. Obviously I didn't share that particular detail with the insurance companies 😗
The CCTV in the petrol station would have been enough to convict several of us.
But apparently he was a local & the garage owner didn't like him & the way he looked down his nose at working class folk.
So when the Cops asked for the footage. They were shown a chewed up VHS tape 🙂

Funny that you should say that Sarky! It may not have been the petrol station owners dislike of the guy. That caused the mysterious damage to that VHS tape? But it's what I was told 😉

I asked the most sensible of my mates to write me a witness statement for the insurance. He was doing a great job. Until I read..."Then the owner of the 4x4 began whooping like a rutting gibbon"...
He refused to change it, as apparently it was a..."True & accurate account of what he had witnessed"... 🙄

I was surrounded by idiots back then. But it gave me an excellent grounding for use of this forum 😉

Yep It's home Don, I picked it up last Wednesday, I've only managed 140 miles so far as the weather has been shite,I can only do 45mph at the moment so am sticking to tiny backroads, a lot have grass growing up the middle and fuckin great potholes full of water, Then there's the crap left by the tractors and it's all covered by about 6" of leaves.....makes for an interesting trip out 😂, I was going to a remembrance service this morning and then up to the Norfolk coast but looked out the window and its soaking out there ... at least we've had no salt yet

Understandable @MartytheMartian, India is reported to be buying up as much cut price Russian oil as well, "but then" certain western country's are still for now taking Russian gas and being a cynic I would find it hard to believe that the well to do in any nation would not allow Beluga caviar to pass their lips and such other delicacies, what any government say they are doing and what they are doing has always been two different things and profit always comes before life to some.

I totally agree @Don the Don but as my 'little bit' I have decided that Norton and Royal Enfield and anything else Indian Russian or feckin' Chinky can get tae feck and I will take nothing to do with people of those nationalities where possible.

I got a report from a mate the other day that an artist who did model kit box artwork for a Model kit company in Ukraine called Roden who I've bought quite a few kits from was killed by Russian troops who shot him in cold blood on his doorstep in Irpin.

Russia and all who support the bastards really need to pay for what they have done to the people of Ukraine.

That may be so @Sarky B’stard but I am not so sure that 95% is at all accurate. I would imagine there are some who are so stupid or brainwashed that they believe their governments propaganda and really believe that Ukraine isn't being pulverised but there are also a hell of a lot who long to see the old days when Russia was a Superpower or simply don't give a damn what Putin is doing and of course every soldier who obeys the orders to kill Ukrainian civillians are guilty of committing war crimes (We didn't accept 'I was only following Orders' from the Nazi's so why should we accept it from Putin's scum). If the Russian people had acted en masse to stop the Kremlin then yes they could be forgiven but the vast majority haven't and should bear a share of the guilt.

The only way out of this for the Russian people is for them to tear down their own government and, if they don't, they are as guilty as that government.
