BBC News - UK doomed without Brexit rethink, warns Tory backer

Mind you, I think it's fair to say a lot of Joe Public thought Brexit would reduce the amount of illegal immigration. If anything it's gotten worse since. Plus the EU are still messing with us on various other levels.
I wrongly assumed that leaving the EU meant what it said on the tin. Apparently not! 🙄

The conservative government has failed comprehensively to uphold any of their stated beliefs. Illegal immigration is rampant, together with benefit claimants, inflation rising by the day, law and order broken down. They represent only minority groups now, sex changers, ethnics, millionaires, protestors. The Tories have completely wasted a decent majority by time wasting and squabbling amongst themselves. They don't deserve to run this country and I don't deserve them. If Reform stand a candidate at the next GE, ,I will vote for him/her. If not, I will be spoiling my paper.

From what I've read many EU economies are doing far worse than the UK economy, Germany's economy is a right mess apparently.

Lets not forget why our economy has been screwed, which is almost entirely due to politicians mismanagement of COVID, spending between £350 - £450 billion. Then there is the mismanagement of our energy provision and supply where we could be an energy exporter we have to import at massive cost. The ridiculous Net Zero agenda which again costs us massively and also in subsidies to energy companies for renewables. Going back further the bailing out of the banks, and the last Labour government which sold off assets and left the country saddled with massive debt even though the economy had seen big growth.

The state of the UK economy is nothing to do with Brexit, but I believe one thing for sure is that we would be a lot worse off still being a member of the EU.

And Labour would be the same but worse, as they both take their policies, agenda and instructions from higher up IMO. The WEF globalists have infiltrated many governments and parliaments around the world, and they openly brag about it.

If Reform stand a candidate at the next GE, ,I will vote for him/her.

Me too, I'll not vote for any of the current parties occupying Westminster.

I have no faith in Fishy Sunak whatsoever. I hope I'm wrong, but to put him in charge of plugging the holes in the bottom of the canoe, that he drilled, makes little sense to me.

What concerns me is that, no matter what we think of Sunak and whether he actually plays favourites the entire population of India will now think they have, through him, become our masters. During the early days of the Ukraine war I got into a lot of conversations/arguments with Indians and they were quick to point out that we 'let foreigners take a great deal of control over our parliament/country' and have lost most of our previously flagship brands to them and the Chinese. I've said it before and I'll say it again...... We're doomed!

Agree with most of what folks are saying, but don't get the anti-India stuff.

We want India to be a bigger partner - it's a potentially huge market.

But more importantly, it is a regional opponent of China and the way things are going, the key to the 21st century is whether you are an ally of China or oppose China.

We've a lot of talent, but we aren't going to return to greatness on the back of mass-market manufacturing - we need an alternative to China to do that for us.

It's a one way street. Our stuff costs too much. It's all their shit coming here.

I am not anti-India, I am now the proud owner of two Royal Enfields made there and, while they are not built to the quality of a Hinckley Bonneville they are, I think, the equal of the machines that rolled off the production line at Redditch and far better than I think even a lot of owners give them credit for. I also think that a lot of Indians quite respect Britain and it's people and I have known some excellent fellows of Indian heritage. What I am a bit 'anti' is the perception by people of other nations that we are controlled and ruled by people who may well play favourites with the nation of their ancestors rather than the nation they represent. Of course the reality is that, like people of Norman descent who ruled England 'back in the day' there may well be virtually no fellow feeling or even animosity to their ancestral nation but the 'perception' is important on the world stage.

I do wonder though also if having a PM of Indian descent might cause even more trouble between the Indian and Pakistani communities in the UK. I think that a lot of people whose origins lie in Pakistan already feel that British people look more favourably on people of Indian origin than on people of Pakistani origin and they may well be right in that respect.

If it means a bit more scrutiny of the behaviour of certain communities, I'll be all in favour of that!
