I would, if I was allowed anything remotely resembling a firearm. Us crackpots aren't allowed any sort of licence...I couldn't even get an air rifle certificate!

If course, I could just go out and buy the real thing illegally if I was of the criminal fraternity. As ever it's us nutters law abiding citizens that get penalised.

When I worked in concert security the Maglite was the weapon/light of choice. Carried in a loop on our belts and, at the slightest suspicion of trouble you took it by the lens end and held it on your shoulder so that, even in a confined space or crowd you just whipped it down off your shoulder into the mug of whoever you wanted to 'neutralised' and the weight of the batteries did the rest. Lovely bit of kit and, if pressed on the matter you just claimed it was an instinctive reaction and you didn't mean to brain the guy but were only illuminating him.
