The Place To Post Awesome Photos Of Your Choosing

I saw the aurora from here but I knew what I was looking for and so wasn't surprised that, with the naked eye, I could barely make out a slight pink or green glow in faint patches and lines. Nothing like the spectacular light show that folks in my village were posting that their cameras were seeing on long exposure. The missus couldn't see them until I explained that it was very subtle and then she could make out the shapes and slight colours.

The main thing with the aurora is that folks are shown pictures online and on the TV of these vivid colours across the sky and it may be like that up in Iceland etc. (I wouldn't know) but in this neck of the woods, unless you have a digital camera/phone that is really good at night time photography or take pictures on a pretty long exposure with a good stable tripod, all you will be able to see with the Mk.1 Eyeball is a faint hint of green, pink and purple against the dark blue of the sky. Basically false advertising. The iphone I've got just now was utter pish at trying to take any pics of it but, if I still had the Huawei I used to have I know that would have produced pictures like all the one's you could see online. The different coloured ionised gases were there but could only appear to really be bright with an overexposed image.

The dead giveaway in photos is if houses, trees etc. are very visible or appear to be pretty much lit up.

Damn. Not fast enough with the camera... Was sat in the living room reading, and saw a blur go past the window, there was a clonk like something hit the glass, and as I looked up I saw a buzzard take a blackbird right off the cill. Then he dropped down just at the front of the van to eat it. Could see him pulling feathers out, just the back half of the buzzard, but you could see it was arching it's back and ripping in to the blackbird, feathers going everywhere.

Tried to sneak out to get a pic, but he was off soon as I opened the door.

Funny thing, whilst I was watching through the window a rabbit just casually ambled past the buzzard, about 4 ft away. Kind of like they said "evening" and went on their way...

I was fortunate to see a sparrowhawk wizz past my garden as I sat outside and snatch a dove in neaxt doors garden with an almighty smack and then start ripping it apart, Nature is red in tooth and claw as they say, if only these wimpy do gooders understood that
