What have you done to your bike today....

Cheers for the replies, when I get back on it will need an MOT and I'll have a full service. The current oil has done well less than 1000 miles.
I won't start her up again as this seems to be the advice. I've not used a petrol additive before but will have to look at it as normally the petrol would be only 5 months old and I've never had any problems with any bike before but it's going to be quite a bit longer than 5 months. Would it be worth draining the tank or use additive. Prefer the later as simpler.
Each to their own, it's up to you just remember modern fuel especially that nasty E10 stuff start going off within weeks I still use E5 "yes" a couple of stations still have it near me, the above statements speak for themselves it's a simple flow chart.
Does the tank have fuel in it.
yes. . No

can you in your state drain it? . . job done

yes. .No

Drain it. . use additive

It's not rocket science mate, those of use who used the additive have had no side effects

E10 is Hygroscopic and draws water from atmosphere, so you "SHOULD" do something and not just leave it, the additive stops this happening and prevents rust in the tank and fuel system.

E5 is much better [if still available in some area's]

use a good additive like the one mentioned or other reputable makes are available

I am not being paid or receiving any gratuities from the mentioned company or any other branding and the advise is given freely to help

Cheers Don,
Thankfully my bike has only ever had E5 in the tank. The dealer when I picked her up advised me to only use E5 so I have from day one.

I've just received back some tank (air box) covers that I had painted like the traditional FTR paint scheme. A while ago I was able to buy some carbon covers in a sale, that I then removed the badges from and sent them away to Dream Machine in the UK, who have just returned them, and I think they look great 😁 The Indian script is in relief so the carbon shows though (doesn't show up well in the photos), like some of the later FTRs

So they started like this:

And now painted to this:

I've just got to fit them now :)

Now fitted to the bike :)

Being picky the angle of the Indian script isn't correct, as it's supposed to be level when on the bike (see below), whereas mine follows the bottom line/edge of the panel. It doesn't bother me, and I think the bike looks great, however no doubt a purist would point it out.

And the logos on my original covers are at an angle too...

I got out for a wee spin around the local area on the Bonnie but didn't stop to take any pictures. Great weather though and the Bluebells are starting to cover the mountain slopes. It is amazing when they turn the green slopes completely blue for just a few short weeks. I love the way the Bonnie feels to ride with the rearsets and clubman bars but, Christ, it's hard on the wrist (throttle hand in particular) and I'm contemplating going back to the standard bars simply because it's more comfortable.

Body telling you something there mate, do it before any damage is done, you even find a lot of [original] BSA Goldstar riders change to touring trim as they get older, something to consider doing NOW

Well I gave the Daytona a wash and a look over today as tomorrow at 2pm I'm taking her down for MOT to get her back road legal. Should fly through as she had only done a couple of hundred miles since her last MOT. Despite my complaints about wrist pain above I've got to say that I'll put up with it on the Daytona. She came to me with raised bars but I thought they were plug ugly and just all wrong for a sleek machine like the Daytona but I may well revert to standard bars on the Bonnie or something in-between. I will be getting my other Bonnie on the road soon too and she has standard bars and pegs.

Well I was out rocketing around my local area on the Daytona today. Incredible weather here. Hard to believe that, for about the last five years, there has been snow on the mountains behind my bike on this day of the year. I have to say that I do love the old Daytona, she pulls like a train, sounds awesome and I even sort of like the weird 'Aston Green' colour although it looks pretty much black except when the sun hits it.
