Reminds me of Lionel Ritchie talking about his early reception in a Cadillac showroom. They rang the record company to verify his financial status and he then bought one for each of his band mates too!

Nah, it ain't coz I iz black coz I izn't.
It's partly because I'm a professional scruffy b@stard.
And partly because I've had conversations in there along the lines of ..."Please can I speak to someone that knows their arse from their elbow?"...

I've no plans to do anything about being scruffy. But I think they are finally getting the message that if they do their job. I won't openly criticise them. Today went like clockwork & I'm a happy bunny. Unlike my last visit when it took them 2 weeks to not manage to sort the front parking sensors! 🙄

Even if I had it you wouldn't find me ever paying a hundred and nine grand for a car. No car to be used on crappy British roads is worth that kind of loot.
That Merc is a classic example of the law of diminishing returns Marty.
Obviously it's a lot better than a £20k Dacia Duster. But how much better? 🤔
Let's be generous & say it's twice as good. That still leaves £69k that needs to be justified 🧐

It sounds like a mental amount Don. Until you compare it with a vehicle in the same market segment from another manufacturer.
And I'm not talking about German brands. Look up the price of a similar Ford or Vauxhall. Then the Dacia looks like an absolute bargain!
"What" 20 grand for a car, I could never bring myself to contemplate such a thing even though I could afford it fuggin things depreciate the second they come off the shop floor

My local Renault garage also sell Dacia and the sales guys don't exactly go out of their way to try and sell you them. I did look at the Duster a couple of years ago but, when you added in a stereo, air-con, asked for a different colour etc. the price went up to pretty much the same as everyone else's standard 4x4. They ain't actually that cheap unless you can live with the extremely basic model.

They are gradually creeping up in price like Skoda's did.
Nowadays a Skoda still makes more sense than the equivalent VW it's based on.
But only if you plan to keep it for 10yrs.
If you chop it in after 3yrs you'd have been better to purchase the slightly more expensive VW. Due to the Skoda having a less robust residual value.
