I'm actually glad it has been defeated. The police already have the powers to deal with 'disruptive' protests, as they more than willingly demonstrated when the likes of the; EDL, Football Lads Alliance, Pro-Brexit, Anti-Lockdown protests took place, even though they were not, or less, disruptive than the eco idiots protests. New ever more authoritarian legislation keeps being introduced with the excuse that it is 'for greater security', 'for public health', 'to prevent disruption' and invariably the new powers granted are not used for the original purpose but instead used against dissidents. Take for example 'hate speech' laws which were introduced supposedly to tackle terrorist extremists, but this has led to people being arrested and sentenced for making jokes, miss-gendering, or tweeting song lyrics, etc.
When new legislation is trying to be introduced, always examine if it is really necessary, and think if it will be later used to further curb your freedom
