Say hello to "Monica"

Monica is the dusky classically hot Italian that will soon be arriving with me.

She will be getting a bit of a face lift, which may not be to everyones taste, but I will try to maintain her classic style. I will attempt to show the progress of changes in this thread as they progress, nothing major just bolt on after market parts and Moto Guzzi (or good copies of) where suitable and available. I may get her professionally painted in the winter. However, for me that will take some planning as I'm a total retard where colours are concerned, which is why I still haven't decorated my house after living in it for eight years 🤯

Monica is nearly 5 years old, covered just 4,800 miles, and only 800 miles in the last two years. Apparently the last owner was an old chap who damaged his leg (not on the bike apparently) and has now had to give up riding.

This will be a bit of a cruiser for me, and I hope to put on some miles with the intention that she will be a keeper.

Is Motone stuff decent quality? I'm considering a set of their 'jota' bars for the Speed.
Had a set of jotas (inverted) on my GSX11 and they were ideal for comfort.

I've been very happy with the quality of the bits I've brought from them so far. I've previously had their billet indicators, tail tidy (which I modified), and polished aluminium mud guards for my Bonneville, which is why I went back to them again for my Guzzi.

Spent a few mins watching the cows, and monitoring the Peasant Army performing naval exercises...

First impressions of the bike:

Not what I would regard as excellent condition, but good condition, a few minor things need a little cosmetic attention. As everyone says, its agricultural, the clutch is like a switch being either on or off, rear suspension is not good. However its good fun, can be fairly rapid for what it is, more nimble than you might think, turns in really quickly, it feels comfortable and will be interesting to see what its like on a long run. It made me smile, which is what its all about 😄
