Oh absolutely @Don the Don The Dagenham Girl Pipers were formed if I recall correctly for the children of all the Scots working at the car plant and there are an awful lot of people south of the border who carry Scots names and have Scottish heritage. I always find it a bit weird that a lot of my fellow Scots who have lived all or most of their lives in England and then feel they have a right to bleat about independence. Fact is that Scotland is much smaller and a lot of the land has been pretty much abandoned by those who used to make their living on it because it was far easier and more lucrative to go and get an 'education' and then head off to a good job in London, Liverpool, Manchester etc. and so unless you are retired and financially independent or do a 'tech' job that can be done from home online the Highlands and Islands aren't the best place to live. I have nothing whatsoever against English folks who can and do choose to live in the villages and towns of Scotland. They bring money and provide jobs and are generally good British people.

My old mother was on about Palestine and the 'poor women and children' suffering when I was talking on the phone to her the other night. I don't think she liked it when I suggested that the only way to solve it once and for all would be to deport the 'Palestinians' (Read settlers who invaded the lands of the Jews in the middle ages) and give Palestine back to the indigenous Jewish population but in all honesty that is the only way there will ever be peace in that area. History tells us that, no matter whether it takes a year or ten thousand years the people who consider themselves 'native' to a land will eventually take back their land. Those seeking to overrun the UK and Europe with illegal settlers would do well to remember that. Eventually the Romans were kicked out of everywhere they had lorded it over, the Norse were kicked out of Ireland, the Spanish and Eastern Europeans kicked out the Moslems, we lost our control over India, Hong Kong etc. and, where the incomers haven't been kicked out around the world there is always trouble in varying extents between the 'natives' and the settlers.
