I think they moved the goalposts a while back as you now have to have UK instead of GB when going abroadNew number plate for the 900 with country flag in bottom left corner. We are touring abroad 3 times this year and don't want nasty stickers on the plate. Went on line but too many hoops to jump through unless I went for a "show plate", so phoned Halfords. They wanted £22, and have to order bike plates in. Should be ready Saturday.
Either way, it's going on the bike!I think they moved the goalposts a while back as you now have to have UK instead of GB when going abroad
Halfords should have told you that it needs to say UK now, not GB.Either way, it's going on the bike!
Collected my new plate this morning. April the 1st is next Friday, right? The original, legal sized plate is 9" x 7". The new one.........wait for it......................12" x 8". It's like a fucking barn door. And it's going back.New number plate for the 900 with country flag in bottom left corner. I think you'll find that the tw@ts have given you a square plate for a car, not a bike.Collected my new plate this morning. April the 1st is next Friday, right? Ireland in May, Norway in June, Portugal in September. Routes planned on myrouteapp.Have you planned a route, or are you just going to wander about ?
Good for you mate. Are you camping, or staying in hotels ?Ireland in May, Norway in June, Portugal in September. Routes planned on myrouteapp.
A mixture, Ireland is with friends, 10 of us on 6 bikes will be staying in small hotels and pubs. Norway, just the 2 of us will be 2 nights each way on ferries, then hotels, camping and staying in campsite huts. Portugal is another group ride, a night on the ferry each way, hotels en route to a villa for a week.Good for you mate. Are you camping, or staying in hotels ?
Took the plate back and explained that it was wrong. No problems at all, assistant was very apologetic and re-ordered the correct size for delivery next week.Collected my new plate this morning. I haven't been around Ireland since '87 on a bike, I've recently got the itch to go back. At the time it wasn't a fantastic idea to visit the North with UK plates (was a bit uneasy going through Portlaoise on the way to Dublin) but I've stories from touring Ireland that are still trotted out. I'm sure another visit would add just as many.A mixture, Ireland is with friends, 10 of us on 6 bikes will be staying in small hotels and pubs. The South is a lovely place and the locals are always friendly. We crossed to Belfast in 2018 and toured the Antrim coast, following the beaches and across Connemara around to Galway It was a fun trip, but nothing beats the Copper Coast road and Cork through to Kerry and round to Dingle.I haven't been around Ireland since '87 on a bike, I've recently got the itch to go back. Only 2 wet afternoons. Because of the many peninsulas, it's easy to bail out of a long ride and cut across to that night's digs. A couple of hot days and the rest were cool. Pretty much ideal for touring and sightseeing.Did it piss down much ?
