Surely that helmet should only be worn on a Fireblade. It looks like one of the Blade paint schemes to me or am I misremembering?

Hmm I think it's either an early nineties CBR600 or Africa twin paint scheme that it reminds me of. Not really that close looking at pics of those old beastie's but they are what sprang straight into mind when looking at that lid.

You're not wrong, I guess that's why the design is called "Blade", and quite a few bikes used similar colours in the 1990s

I still love the looks of the FZR-R, I've never owned or ridden one, but if money and space were no object then I'd love to have one 🥰

Thanks for putting that pic of the Blade up @Scrappy I thought I remembered one with just that scheme but, when I searched images online I never saw it. Thought I was losing me marbles.

I can't say I've ever been a fan of the FZR looks myself. I don't know why it is but while Yamaha do precise and superbly functioning things, whether it's bikes musical instruments or anything else, they always seem a bit kind of sterile to me. I've got a Yamaha Bobby Shew signature model trumpet that, at two and a half grand, cost more than double my second most expensive trumpet and it's pretty much perfect but I tend to play my other horns more and I think it's because they aren't quite as perfect and that, I guess, is what we think of as character. I get on better with things that are basket cases and that's probably because I guess I'm a bit of a basket case myself.

Now GSX's in all their variations I think are corkers! They are psychotic, liable to kill you, wobbly at times, idiosyncratic and, if they don't manage to kill you they give you a big grin on yer mug and in all their incarnations they look fuckin' gorgeous.

It may only be a tiny little win but I discovered today that one of the batteries in my Bonnies is still alive despite being ignored for pretty much twelve months at least and I got one of them started today plus the others will all turn over so no seizures despite having sat untouched for a long time now and I might be able to save a couple of the other batteries. It seems that Gel batteries may be out of charge or almost out of charge and a 'smart' charge won't recharge them but it is possible to bring them back to life using a power supply or battery charger that isn't smart. I am using a bench power supply to get them charging followed by putting them on my 'smart' charger. Seems to be working so far on at least two batteries that I thought were absolute goners. Next step will be pulling the bikes out on a decent dry day and assessing anything that might need cleaning and tidying then decide what one's to MOT.

Picked the better of the 2 days this weekend, a lovely 250 mile round trip to collect my last Welsh Landmark. Into the Snowdonia National Park to Porthmadog. Cracking, empty roads and top temperature of 13C ( very briefly). Bike still running like brand new after nearly 21,000 miles, as expected! Massive piggy breakfast at Churchstoke, coffee in Porthmadog, a spirited blast over the northern road to Bala and a cuppa tea at Welshpool aerodrome. Home very tired at 6. Into the bath for a quick freshen up and shave. A one mile walk to the local social club for a brilliant covers band, a few pints and Into bed for 1AM. Not bad for an old 'un. Oh yes, we were out to see a band in Stourbridge on Friday as well.

Saw the Red Arrows practicing over Tain on Wednesday. Great to get a free show!
They are based out of RAF Lossiemouth at the moment as the weather here is better than down south, I can count them in and out all day, as some of our lot are away doing stuff there is room for them to practice, The weather here has been so good frost at night and glorious sunshine all day for the last week [and next] I even managed to build myself a new Log store, Happy day's.
