I have to say that, if you have a 790 Bonnie, a Street Triple and a Ducati Monster is there anything the Guzzi could really bring to your party? The only thing I miss that my four can't give me is a crazy, bouncy off roader.

My primary criteria for chosing a bike is how it makes me feel and the enjoyment I get from it. It doesn't matter to me if two bikes are similar or serve the same purpose, it just matters that they appeal to me aesthetically and physically, and that they make me grin when I'm riding... simples 😜 - Surely you having had at the same time, 3 Bonnevilles, and now with 3 Triumph triples, understand this? 😉

Ah well @Scrappy other than when it comes to Bonnie's, with finite funds and space I feel the need to select 'flavours'. The same with most things I own. I have about thirty guitars but each one has it's own particular 'flavour' (different pickup types, configurations, different tremolo options, colours etc.). Same with my Banjo's, my bagpipes, etc. Even when it comes to the Bonnie's THE Bonnie for me is my green one with the Union Jacks. I bought the one that is now blue and silver with the intention of turning her into a scrambler and using her on the forestry roads around here. In that case she was simply too nice when she arrived to do that to her and, having gone off the side of the road on a rough passing place and grinding the underside slightly getting back onto the road I decided that it really isn't a good idea using a Bonnie off road. Not enough ground clearance by a long shot. Now that I have the four (of course one of my Triples is now deceased and lying in bits on my shed shelves) I believe I have the four bikes that will serve me for the duration of my riding career. Of course, if money was no object and space wasn't a problem I'd add a classic 'racer' like a Manx Norton, a full-on race JPS Rotary Norton, an original 1959 Bonnie, an original Triumph Thunderbird, a modern Triumph Thunderbird, Vincent Black Shadow, Suzuki GSX1100S Katana and a few other choice machines.

I do like a Guzzi having owned them in the distant past, says he with two Triumphs now, the Guzzi has a very distinctive feel and sound not to mention the vibes as those v pistons fire from side to side and the shake on start up, also they are one off the easiest machines for the home spannerman to service everything is within easy reach and not to mention the shaft.
So why after all that have I not until now shown any interest? "Simple" all the last models had fuggin plastic tanks and for that reason alone I would not touch them, even the first model V7 Classic that they introduced had a rotten placky tank so it was a No No "Then" it changed they re-introduced metal tanks so now they have "to me" become desirable again, I may or may not get one but now I admire them more and with the new 850 lump they are certainly more interesting.

I believe anything with the 22 litre tank is metal from 2012 onwards, the plastic tanks being quite thick have less capacity (15 litre?)

Just got back from trip over the border into bandit country (Devon) on the modded Himalayan. Test run! Very pleased with the booster plug. It gives a much better throttle response. The engine seems running a bit cooler, probably due to the engine not running so Euro4 lean!
Quick pint in Crackington Haven on the way back.

bikes Looking good @smib , just fitted a Booster plug to my Bonnie and she runs better without the jerky throttle pickup I will give it a longer run this week and see what other improvements are to be found
