Well I'm guessing the aircraft itself as a survivor of early private jets has a value all it's own but obviously the Elvis, and Vernon, Presley connection has a considerable value as well. I have to say though that the guy seems to love it in which case, if he had the loot spare then fair play to him. I reckon a lot of folks with similar amounts of loot may spend it without getting that much fun out of it and a lot of wealthy folks are miserable SOB's with no sense of humour or sense of fun.

I have no interest with that aircraft whatsoever, I am a Elvis fan but I have no interest in civil aircraft, unless it is military and was capable of killing my interest is not there even troop carrying planes are lost to me [not cargo mil planes as they can still drop weapons] ,
As for why someone would waste that amount of money is beyond me and even if they do spend loads of money on it it would still require civil aviation inspection before it could be certificated to fly, with the money spent I would do an Elvis and have a party in Vegas or buy an ex military aircraft.
A lot of my mates left to work on civvy aircraft but I was not drawn to them and was happy to remain military and put up with the shit than go down that route.
