The great unspoken truth is that Scotlan's greatest export has long been its people. Those with get up and go, got up and left - my parents and my wife's!You have to understand that one of the great ways to get guaranteed votes in Scotland is to 'detest' the Tories although you can also declare that you hate them or consider them scum and anyone who supports the Union in Scotland is, by extension 'Traitorous Tory Scum'. This goes back to the days from 1979 until New Labour got into government when Labour continually played on the propaganda that 'It's all the Tories fault' and 'Scotland is being shafted by the Tories unfairly when Scotland almost across the board voted Labour at the last election so the government in Westminster isn't your government'. They did that every Election throughout the eighties and into the nineties but, of course, when Labour got into power they dropped any pretence at playing favourites and lavishing wealth on Scotland for their unwavering support which led to those who had grown up indoctrinated to hate Conservatives and vote Labour with no-one to vote for and they were then hoovered up by the SNP who sort of suggested that they were more 'for the common man' than Labour were. Basically more of the support for the SNP in Scotland is because Labour weren't seen to deliver what they 'implied' Scotland was due when they finally got into power and destroyed decades of support in Scotland which was based on making working class and 'Socialist' Scots believe that Scotland never got a fair deal at Westminster.
