So what frivolous things have you bought lately? Why?

New kite strings.

Have owned a 6' Flexifoil for about 25 years now and it lives in the boot of the car but doesn't get the use it deserves.

One string has been repaired for ages, but thought getting it some new strings will encourage us to use it more often.

Lovely feeling flying a kite :)

@DD67 is a bad influence, he's got me at it now

Just brought some drawers for the garage. I went to collect them and had the pick of three, the set I got are new and virtually unmarked apart from a very small dent at the bottom which will easily knock out, and look better than the image below. They normally sell for nearly £150, and I paid £40 :)

Edit: I've just noticed that the seller has now increased the price on the remaining two to £50, perhaps I shouldn't have told him they were in better condition that I expected 🤔

You got a right bargain there Scrappy.
I used to sell them (it that condition) for £70+. The really beaten up ones went for £30-£40.
Was the seller based near Sixfields tyres in Northampton by any chance?

Sounds like the guy I used to purchase them from has now got a better idea of their true value?
I used to give him approx £90 for a dozen 😉

Got one of those from the local recycling centre. Guy was just about to chuck it in the scrap metal skip when I took it from his hands.
Great bit of kit. Stores all my electronic stuff. Transistors, resistors, capacitors rtc

Ah, it's all coming out now! 😉
Secretly several of you are closet metal cabinet owners.
And therefore you realise what ace bits of kit they are. Especially when they are freebies!!! 🤗

What was that guy thinking? Who in their right mind would throw one in a skip FFS! 😏

As filing cabinet style storage in our garages appears to be the new black.
I was thinking we could have a little competition just for a laugh. To see who can pick up the best bargain?

I'll go first...
