So what frivolous things have you bought lately? Why?

I recently bought a 12-String. Coming from the keyboards, I know what you are talking about…
But: PLEASURE is manifold once it hurts!
I got rid of my 12 but one tip is to drop tune it a semi or even a full tone and capo it back to E to lessen the string tension. Easier on the fingers.

And the neck on some 12s, mine (a cheap Harmony) pulled the neck in and made the action high mid neck in std tuning.

Good advice, Chas.
But I actually enjoy the occasional blister when it comes to music.
Compared to gardening, music for me is worth a little pain ☺️

The Couesnon was indeed from ebay @Scrappy not a bad trumpet and in good playing condition for it's age although rather 'refined' compared to my Buescher's. The yanks knew how to make a good screamer of a trumpet and they didn't stint when it came to decoration either. Silver plating hand engraved in an art deco design. One is plain silver and one has frosted sections and sections which have been additionally plated in gold.

I had a couple of acoustic twelve stringers many years ago, Canadian made Seagulls they were and, while they were lovely sounding instruments the damn things couldn't take the tension from the strings and the tops bellied out. I've rarely seen an acoustic twelve that doesn't have a 'swelling' or belly around the bridge caused by string tension.

Funny Marty, but sometimes I think: Jeez, this thing is only good for playing Barclay James Harvest‘s „Hymn“ 🤪

Push yourself to an E and you'll have 'Rumble' (Link Wray) sorted. :D

(and a gazillion other blues based songs but the pace of Rumble is quite slow)

I’d personally go for G, C, D and variants. Also pay attention to which fingers you use to play them with. Might not be easiest now, but will stand you in good stead for future progression.

Bought one of these with some Christmas money, the missus broke her back about 15 years ago and the standard manual pumps hurt her back so got this for ease of use. With a number of bikes and cars it is definitely a time saver.

Water Sort Puzzle game for my phone.

Don't usually have anything like this on my phone, but Ms S showed it to me and it is both soothing and addictive!
