You couldn't make it up - Apparently the University of Northampton are placing a warning on George Orwell's 1984 saying it contains ideas and imagery that students might find disturbing. A book that warns of a society that tells you what to think and has 'thought police' keeping people away from 'unacceptable' material is being 'policed' by people who are dictating what is safe to think.

I work with a lot of people who are involved in UK teacher training.

However not today people..
Today I'm on her side...
Once the Peasant Army and Duck Militia is on the move we got a stop or two to make to liberate are fellow Ducks being held in camps and tortured...I know are Duck friends would never intentionally give us up..However how long can a duck hold out under these conditions..

The whole point about punt guns is the punt. It absorbs the recoil, restrained and trained much like one of Nelson's cannon, that would otherwise reduce your shoulder to roadkill. Silly picture!

LOL we occasionally get people new to black powder muzzle loaders. There was a chap who used to put a double measure of powder in for them, because the powder burns so slowly (compared to nitro) you don't get excessive chamber pressure, but you do get shit loads of smoke and flame from the muzzle as the excess powder burns off as it leaves the barrel. It's one of those "Don't do it unless you know what you are doing because do it wrong and it can kill you" things, but entertaining to watch as the whole area is filled with smoke and stink

Those punt guns are more like Nelson's cannons. They mostly fired the same 32lb shot for standardised ammunition but the weight of the gun itself and the deck it was on dictated the powder charge and consequent recoil/range & kinetic energy. They needed block & tackle to train and restrain.

You likewise aim your punt with hand paddles creeping up on dabbling duck!
