I thought all the bent police worked in the Met. They don't work where I live can't remember the last time Isaw a Copper but theres only 100000 population and the towns surrounded by traveler camps.

Last time I saw one here was winter 2010. He'd taken a drive out to look at the snow and see how the ford 4x4 thing they had coped. I had just finished shovelling the road way out, and he stopped to chat. So I asked if he fancied a brew... Hop in he says, and runs me up to the house.
Mrs saw me coming in in a jam butty mobile, and comes out if the door with a "What you done now?"
How we laughed.....
Later ....Tell a lie, there was 2 of them down the road about 5 years back, they came to caution a gardener who's dog had jumped up at a local busybodys car. She said it's claws had scratched it, and called the rozzers. Pathetic.

Here's a thing, back in the early 2000's the local paper carried a headline about a heinous crime. Some miscreant had thrown a bag of chips at a shop window!
Nowadays there's murders and drugs raids on the north coast ..heard a rumour of drugs farms and slavery not long back. How times change, eh?

We used to have a copper in the village and we only have around 400 people living here and whoever is staying at the hotel and caravan park at any given time. Most of the villages the size of ours and bigger in Argyll had their own copper but about four years ago they first removed the phone number so you couldn't call the local bobby direct and then they took them away altogether. Now, if you need a copper in a hurry you have to phone their call centre in Glasgow and, if they deem it necessary, they will send one out from Dunoon or Helensburgh so it only takes a couple of hours from you calling while you are being stabbed to death by the psychopath up to them arriving to have a gawp at the body.
@Steve 998cc Nope London doesn't have the monopoly on bent coppers. I lived in North Ayrshire for some years in the late eighties and nineties and the cops there were a disgrace and everyone knew it but nothing was ever done about them. One was done for robbing charity shops, another raped a female prisoner, a diabetic died in the cells because they decided he was drunk when they stopped him in the street and didn't do any sort of medical assessment, one was well known for catching female junkies shoplifting and he would demand sexual favours from them (often in full view of the public up side streets around the town high street) in return for not taking them in. They were scum. The sad thing too was that there were a few good coppers in that station who couldn't do anything about everything that was going on.

I think it's more like one small force now @Don the Don. In the last ten years the number of Police visible anywhere seems to have really fallen. Between my village and Helensburgh, if anything happens on the roads they tend to draft in the MOD police from Faslane to help because they are so shorthanded and I think there are probably more MOD police than there are normal one's in this area of Argyll. I've never been a great fan of the Police but they definitely used to be a lot better at dealing with the criminals and helping and interacting with the public back in my youf than they are now.

Assuming Scotland is then same as England, then maybe its because they are now overtly political and report to government via Police and Crime Commissioners, which allowed political appointees to be parachuted in at the top of the police authority structure. Then there is the woke and political indoctrination that has taken place within forces by the likes of Common Purpose etc, and there has also been a big shift from crime prevention to just prosecution. It seems the days of de-escalation and preventing serious crime have been replaced with antagonization and prosecution of what used not to be crimes committed by easy targets.

In Nottinghams market square in the early 1970s there was a Police Sergeant who was on duty in the market square on a friday and saterday evenings if your not fron Nottingham it where all the pubs were. Never any trouble there when all 6'7" of man mountain was there he was ex Guards. I lost count the number of times I heard the words "now straighten up lad or night in the cells". never did get put in the cells, no body with any sense would put him to the test.

That is another thing that I think has been a big mistake - The abolition of the height restrictions. Police used to be big and imposing and I don't care what any twat says, sheer size definitely helps the Plod on the street impose order. Yes little guys, and women, can be viscious bastards but, in general they don't get the respect a big bastard gets on the street.

I have to add as well that, in my experience, big bastards tend to be actually more patient, not out to prove how 'hard' they are (which, when the little guys and the gals do it makes them look like right nasty jumped up little twats) and generally more relaxed and level headed.

WhereI live a former mining village over the last couple of years its become a lawless place, hardly see a copper when you do they are only kids, the place is overrun whith drug dealers and junkies. The thing is everyone knows who the dealers are but the police. When the pit was open there was virtually no crime, now the place full of shite, kids flying about on stolen scooters they ride past police and know they won't do anything.

Personally I've never been a fan of Sadowitz but there seem to be plenty of people who are and, if they enjoy his material and it doesn't harm anyone else except in their pathetic 'sensibilities' he should be allowed to earn his living performing his material. Those people who seem to get their jollies telling everyone else what is and isn't right and foisting their opinions on others are the one's who need gagged. Pathetic, ill-developed knob-ends.
