Ah there may be some crazy stuff going on up there but
@Big Sandy himself is actually, I believe, from fairly south in Scotland (South Ayrshire to be precise) and, to be honest, there are probably as many English, Polish, LIthuanian and Latvian residents in most parts of rural Scotland as there are actual Scots.
Dad was ex Seaforths, when he left he got an instant job offer from Cheshire Constabulary, before it became Greater Manchester, of course. So I was actually born in Stockport… when he left the rozzers, he moved back North, we lived near a little village called Barr, far enough out to have no neighbours, here
https://images.app.goo.gl/KYKin1Gv9kimXC9C6 in fact….about 15 miles from Girvan.
Then after leaving prison…err, school, I followed the jobs, so been all over. Moved house 3 times in 18 Months at one point, that was fun.
Population wise, where we are there are 9 houses. Only one has a family member who is actually from here (not counting his kids, all of whom bar one, have left). The rest, myself included, are “white settlers”. Two are “local” as in, from Sutherland, the rest have come from far south, London, Portsmouth , Kent…..cheaper houses compared to darn sarf, but the locals still can’t afford them. Myself? Council house scum, me.
