My dog (per month):= healthy pet club (through the vet) £12.00
Insurance:=£24.00
Food:= £30.00
So £66 all in and could probably do it cheaper with poorer quality food. I bet most of them have mobiles, internet and TV subscriptions they could cut back.. ours is going in to vets this week to have some lumps checked and my sons have all said if the insurance doesn't cover it they will help with the bill...she is part of the family and we could never abandon her, I would seriously go and live in a caravan rather than part with her.

My dog costs me per month about £30 for food and treats, and £11 insurance, so £41 / month which like @half ton suggests is probably less than most people pay for Sky TV or mobile contract, and probably half to a third of a single good night out.

I had to reduce my spending, so I changed from feeding him James Well Beloved at £55 / 15kg to Harringtons at £26 / 15kg, which is still decent dog food. You don't abandon your pets just because times get hard, you make compromises elsewhere.

In my personal experience. All bull breeds develop lumps as they get older. Both of mine had various types of lump & in various places.
Initially the Vet took us for £100's a time to carry out biopsies. Eventually they must have had a crisis of conscience. Because they told us to monitor the lumps & see if they were painful for the dog if touched?

Hopefully your dogs lumps are nothing to worry about HT. And the process of obtaining that info won't cost you too many beer tokens 🙂

Cheers DD, she's had a thumbnail sized lump on her leg for about 3 yrs now and the vet said do a biopsy, I said no not yet ,so she said to keep an eye on it then and it's never changed(like you said they just bung expensive options at you) She now has 2 larger ones on her ribs golf ball diameter sized but not sticking out much (I can feel them under her skin) which seem to float a bit, will see what vet says and take it from there...hopefully insurance will cover it (apart from the £85 excess)

It's pretty common for older dogs to develop lipomas -

They are really only an issue if they inhibit limb or neck movements. My old boy will be 14 in early Dec and he has a few panniers that trouble him not a jot. I have heard some vets associate them with vaccines and excessive use of boosters that create odd immune responses...... sound familiar? The head of Pfizer is a vet 🤣

What are they? Wee balls of fur is all I can see. I bought the wife a Chihuahua puppy a few weeks ago and that creature isn't lazy by any stretch. Christ most of the time the wee bugger is whizzing around like a rocket and by Christ it's got sharp teeth and ain't afraid to use them.

Took my girl in for her 6 month check up,Had a chat with the vet about the lumps and she took her off for a biopsy (my choice..she didn't push it) and when she came back she said they were 99% certain they were Lipomas but would dye the samples and let me know for sure ..got a phone call at 7pm from the vet saying all good and just monitor them,It put my mind at rest and was £50 well spent,would have been £150 if they sent them off .
