Undoubtedly something any pet owner would do without thinking...

But please think twice before doing it if the water is frozen. A mate of mine went in after his spaniel who had fallen through the ice on a frozen lake. The dog eventually clambered out but my mate didn't. He had only become a father for the first time approximately a month prior to him drowning 😔

Edit...
Thinking about it again. I don't think the baby had been born when he died?

Meanwhile my old pooch is in the last chance saloon.

He's in 'hospital' on fluids and anti sickness having not kept food down since Saturday. At nearly 15 he's had a great innings and we don't know if it's something tumorous or an adverse reaction to chewing the Mem Sahib's smalls 🤢. Whatever, he either pulls through or goes rabbitting in the sky because he's too old for surgery to be the humane option.

Needless to say, it's a bit joyless round here right now.

Sad news Sarky,15 is a good age for any dog , I lost my last one at 8yrs and felt robbed, Current doggo has reached 9yrs and is slowly getting lumps on her body (non Malignant we're told) and walks rather than run, which suits me as I can't run either, Here's hoping he gets a second wind and totters on for a bit longer (y)

Hope he pulls through.

As some of you know I had a new greyhound a few weeks ago. Wife has gone up north to visit her mum and family. Had a takeaway delivered Saturday evening and when I opened the front door, she ran out. She caught our cat, more the wife's really and pinned her down. I got the cat home and wrapped her up in a blanket she didn't look good and was in shock. Took her to the vets first thing Sunday unfortunately she died at the vets. I haven’t told my wife yet as don't want to spoil her holiday, I feel so bad. I don't think she will want to keep our dog but it's not the dogs fault she was just doing what's she has been trained and praised for.

Sorry to hear that Sarky, lost my dog a short while ago, and know the trepidation you are feeling. Hope the outcome is positive.

Sorry to hear about the incident with the greyhound versus the cat @gazzatriumph

I guess that it's always a risk with greyhounds because of their hunting instinct as I read a few months ago of a woman down in Ayrshire who took her daughters Chihuahau for a walk down the shore and, before you could say 'jack flash' a greyhound that was off the lead had grabbed it and shook it to death.

She is fine with small dogs but as with my previous two greyhounds I'd never let them off the lead apart from when in a field near me you can hire by the half hour which is fenced off and only you on it.
