War with China/Russia

Snake Island? Good propaganda story but a pointless waste of life as the island has no strategic value beyond demarcation of national waters. There are more immediate concerns!

Logistics? Actually the Russians are looking a bit amateur, a lot disorganised and without much stomach for the job. I think Putin is getting mightily embarrassed and will release his nasties who may themselves be too few to make a quick impression. Time works for the Ukrainians as holding out is a victory in itself and Putin's personal stock crumbles. Our new top attack missiles seem to work well and you see quite a few T72s with turret ironwork and sandbags as extemporised protection. Russian tanks, once penetrated, have a nasty habit of blowing their turrets and incinerating their crews. It's a design quirk 🥴

I'm no psychologist or a military strategist like yourself Sarky. However my comment yesterday about Putin suffering from a bad case of small man syndrome. Was only partly a joke.
If the glorious Russian army starts to suffer an embarrassing defeat. At the hands of a much smaller force. Partly comprised of a bunch of rag tag civilians.
I can see Putin doing something extremely silly involving nuclear weapons. As his final act of defiance.
I can't see him taking any loss of face at all well!

The Ukrainian government have been calling upon their citizens to do whatever they can to slow the Russian advance.
It sounds like that's working 🙂
I am wondering whether we have all been guilty of underestimating the Ukrainian army (even though we have been training them for some time I believe?) and perhaps more surprising we’ve been guilty of hugely overestimating the Russian army:oops:

That Kiev (excuse the archaic spelling) still stands is an embarrassment for Putin. I think he was expecting a walk in and done deal job to seize strategic points. And the west would huff and puff but the job would be done. That it's turned into a bit of a shitshow has given time for domestic Russian voices to publicly distance. I know Boris is playing this card a bit but across fairly wide media the only apologist for Putin seems to be Tucker Carlson just playing a card to keep him 'edgy'. In the same vein of gobshites who take a ruble or two Farage has been fucking quiet :D

What worries me though is how Putin decides to either pull back or go full tonto. He's fucked up and now has to decide where now.

The only options Putin has is get the hell out of dodge as soon as he can - which makes him lose face, and that isn’t going to be acceptable

Or

Ratchet up the heat and bring in all the nasty stuff at his disposal stick his government in and then get the hell out of dodge and hide

At this point the West has to decide whether he gets away with it or not!

If Option 1. Russia crumbles and Putin is disappeared

Option2 there is a guerilla war in the biggest country on the European continent that will go the same way as Afghanistan and Chechnya and bleed Russia dry

Then there’s Option 3 but that is totally MAD

And China is not going to want a best friend like that..

I think he’s fucked:)

I rather suspect that Putin thought he was fucked already. The man of steel and Russia itself had become a bit of an irrelevance and backwater to the rest of the world and that won't be sitting well with a lot of Russians not to mention that the Chinese have become the No.1 Commie's on the world stage so Putin had to do something to re-assert himself as the 21st Century Stalin and this was his last roll of the dice. It looks like he has royally screwed it up too. Somehow I suspect that, if Putin tried to 'Go Nuclear' his military commanders would make sure the he 'did the honourable thing' and blew his brains out. I wonder what the Kremlin feel about how bad this shit show is making them look too. I wouldn't be surprised if Putin either mysteriously manages to blow his brains out from behind or is declared insane and disappeared to an asylum somewhere in Siberia.

What I find funny though is that on 'Social Media' so many of those 'warriors of justice and light' are shitting themselves at the thought that trying to stop Putin's wanton destruction of his neighbours might cause Putin to notice them and get angry. When there is a risk to themselves all of a sudden their desire for justice for others melts away like snowflakes in the sun. Many of them are also convinced that, because we upset Putin by threatening his borders with Nato that it's our fault that Putin is murdering Ukrainians rather than all his own fault. Sometimes a lot of my fellow countrymen really make me want to puke with disgust at their selfish, filthy, despicable attitude to others when there is the merest threat to them personally. They would make superb concentration camp guards but fuckin' useless warriors.

I rate this:

As to tactics etc., just look at the map. Ukraine is massive and Putin has nothing like enough troop numbers to fight a guerrilla war. He's totally alienated Ukrainians and quite a few Russians. The swift regime decapitation hasn't worked and each day it drags on increases Putin's personal risk. I can see his oligarchs starting to bale on him in about a week if it goes on like this. Meanwhile the human and material cost to Russia mounts as Russian prestige slides. This isn't late 1944/5 after 4 yrs of rehearsals.

I’m seeing the Ukrainian President calling for foreign nationals to form Foreign Legion Battalions - if that gets traction (which it probably will) could make things very interesting(y)

I think President Zelensky is playing an absolute blinder(y)

Interesting isn’t it that an ex Comedian makes a brilliant politician

Unlike our politicians who make rubbish comedians:sneaky:

Media here just reports in an urgency message that Putin just put his nuclear arsenal on alert… 🤮

Since 2014, folks keep telling me in regular intervals, that it can not always go downhill in life… That there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel…

Slowly but surely I start wondering if I am yet ready to see this kind of light 😵‍💫
