The Chinese/Japanese culture revolves around respect.
Consequently, they'll feel disrespected.

I was reading something a few days ago about some Chinese high ranking party member who wants to send a fleet to the US coast in response to the US having sailed through an area of International Waters that China have decided they own. He said that China should give the US a taste of it's own medicine and even, if I recall correctly, termed it 'an act of war'.

The soulless little far Eastern ants, with Satan whispering in their ear are gearing up to start the apocalypse and old Joe gave them free reign on Afghanistan to help them out with their plans.

The interesting thing about China right now is its potential for domestic instability and how that might impact internationally (think Argentine junta & Malvinas).

While they may appear to have instability within the society I suspect that, by contrast with the West they are solid as a rock. They are like an ant colony where the good of the colony has always overidden personal or self interest. Any change would have to come from the top down.

I beg to differ. However w**k our current Western leadership we have safety valves built into our system. Just watch the French. Oz may have temporarily reverted to penal colony and the NZ lady might eat a kiwi through a letter box but we periodically blow off steam. China is a pressure vessel without a safety valve. The Cultural Revolution was internalised and somewhat forgotten in the West but don’t overestimate the love of the average Chinese for the CCP. Tiananmen Square lessons have been learnt on all sides.

The younger are more indoctrinated than the old in China - which is a worrying trend.

As always, foreign adventures are more likely when domestic support is waning.

While we may not be in a shooting war with China, we are, already, in a war - the West needs to wake up to that because a uni-polar world with China at the top would be a very bad thing.

And that’s absolutely how the CCP see it. This is just the covert phase where they seek to maximise advantage before it goes hot. The variable is the timescale and the extent of subversion they can first achieve.
Cameron and Osborne were stupefyingly naïve and will have ignored their own briefing.

It looks like Oz basically concluded their defence needs have changed. They no longer need a defensive coastal (shallow water) boat but a deep sea offensive surveillance hunter killer like Astute or Seawolf. The key difference is nuclear power (not weapons) which make them independent of the surface to run diesels and re-charge batteries.

The inscrutable scrotes in China seem to be ratcheting the tension up. I see that Chinese warships have been sighted off the Aleutian Islands and they are threatening to sail warships around Hawaii and Guam. They are also reportedly coming the heavy with Germany because the Germans are wanting to put barriers up to cheap Chinese crap flooding their market. I reckon war is coming next year!
