There was nothing wrong with the HoL set up but part of Blair's undeclared constitutional vandalism was a shift to more presidential government and US style politics with a politicised senior civil service. They got a darned sight less competent in the process...... And as for 'advisers' most of whom have track records of consistent failure

I believe the majority of people would be happy to see the rubber boats forcibly returned to France.

I'd give them one chance to turn back towards France.
If they refused or were caught trying the same thing again.
I'd scupper the boats & leave the occupants to swim back to France, or drown trying. Word would soon get around that France, Germany or any other perfectly safe country. Weren't so bad after all.

As harsh as that may sound. Our government have proved they can't/won't do anything effective to stop illegal immigration via the English channel.

I have two grandsons. I intend to brainwash them on being misled myself, waiting for Brexit and plenty Sir Francis Drake with a bit of Nelson, Wellington and Maggie thrown in!

It’s a North/South divide and has been for some time - there will be a lot of migration north - we need to find a way to live with it rather than fighting it

The unemployment rate will be astronomical of course, the health services will no doubt cease to exist and we will have hordes of beggars on the streets like they have in Africa and India. When that happens we will no doubt see real pandemics that will sweep through the tightly huddled masses like, well, the plague.

We need a mass sterilisation programme. The covid virus jab, would be an ideal opportunity to administer it too. It's been accepted practice, for centuries, to cull animals, when there are too many to be supported on a given piece of land. So a preventative measure should be welcomed by all.

I would agree with you that there are vast areas of land that could be utilised @Old Nick but what is very evident in current migratory patterns is that, despite apparently hating us with every fibre of their beings, most of the migrants want to reach Britain.
