War with China/Russia

That exploded before it made contact. How the fuck does that work then ?
Aah! The mysteries of the 'self forged fragment'.

Basically metals under pressure can be made to behave like liquids. If you start with a piece of metal the right shape and detonate an adjacent piece of explosive 'in a clever way' you can use the expanding pressure front to forge the metal into a focussed high velocity projectIle.

Now stick it in a missile with something like a millimetric radar to tell it when it is overhead the target. It then attacks the top armour where it is thinnest. The heat and pressure inside a tank ignites its ammunition which characteristically blows off the turret and incinerates the vehicle.

I don't really see things that way @MICK60 . It seems to me that the reality here is that Putin has taken a fit and gotten all pissy because Russia had pretty much become an irrelevance to the world on the whole and Russia didn't even have 'Red Menace' status any more as those honours go to Chine with North Korea bringing up the rear. I think NATO expansion was a useful excuse for Russia to claim as a reason for attacking Ukraine but that what Putin wanted was nothing to do with what was good for Russia and all about an ageing dictator trying to prove he was still the biggest, toughest thug on the block and, rather than a swift defeat and absorption of Ukraine to 'Make Russia Great Again' he has turned it into 'Make Russia look like a pathetic outdated militarised dictatorship with no morals, no friends and no fuckin' clue'.

I do agree that there are a group of people who always profit from war and the USA is one of them. WWI, WWII and even Vietnam were very profitable for the USA but I don't think they wanted a war on the edges of Europe. When the Nuclear toys come out folks tend to suffer from 'squeaky bum'. Ain't no use making a fortune if your teeth and hair are falling out and all the shops have been vapourised.

I fear, that, that isn't so wide of the mark either. That bastard Putin, needs eradicating, asap. I see now, that he is offering to "radically" reduce the offensive. if Ukraine agree to have no nukes on their turf, and they join the EU.. Smart move. Then the EU will bankrupt itself, repairing all the damage he has caused. Win win, as far as i can see.

Unless Putin is liquidated whatever else happens will never be considered the 'end' and I doubt the West will ever allow Russia to regain even a fraction of what they have been cut off from. Personally I would continue to isolate Russia from the West no matter what happens now until the bastards are sent back to the stone age.

I was having a bit of a verbal battle with an Indian bloke online earlier today about India doing deals with Russia to buy their oil and I had said that India should be subject to sanctions and people from the UK etc. should Boycott Indian goods and he said and I paraphrase roughly "Well we've already gotten Range Rover, Jaguar, Royal Enfield and Norton off you so why should we care about the UK, it's a spent force and even have half the parliament that governs you is made up of immigrants. You British have had your day and those you once enslaved will soon rule you". Says it all when Indians are laughing at us because we have Indians in our government.

The Indian chap is right, we have fucked ourselves up with decades of useless governments.

The first thing to understand is that there is literally no Russian word for 'initiative'. They use the English term but don't truly understand or apply it. A Russian jet jockey is very much the subject of his controller and operates the stick much as someone sitting in a cabin flies a drone. The difference is that they get told what they need to fulfil their task and have very limited appreciation of what else is going on around them.

The Ukrainians appear to have come through that school and then been taught how to exploit its rigidities and to exploit opportunities as they arise. You might also have noticed how all too many captured Russian pilots are no longer in the first flush of youth and appear to have enjoyed too many good lunches because they weren't getting the flying hours. The losses will have blunted their enthusiasm considerably. If you knock 10% of each sortie down you quickly ground an airforce.....and that's before home advantage, lack of AAR and limited stocks of stand off munitions.

And we got a Paki woman, in charge of immigration ffs.
Your comment is ugly and ill-informed. Her parentage is Indian Hindu by way of Uganda - so neither Pakistani nor Moslem.

Secondly there is remarkably little she can do within the current legal framework which goes back to a complete lack of political will emanating from Johnson to 'get tough'. Patel would be the primary beneficiary both politically and personally from such a shift.

I don't personally care for her bombastic and overbearing style and all too obvious ambition but I can be civil and objective. Her race, gender etc., is pretty irrelevant unless you are bidding to be the resident Garnett.

I do agree that it's not Patel that's the problem with Immigration but rather that our legal system can be used to thwart every attempt she makes to get tough on immigration. It's like all the things that the Democrats in the USA claimed that Trump did which, in reality, were blocked at every turn by those who opposed Trump using the legal system. What is really demonstrated is that government itself has little control over the country and how things are done because those unelected legal eagles can put the kibosh on everything whether the public want them or not.

I am sure you have a far better knowledge of what can and can't be stopped by the courts and what the government can and can't do than me @Sarky B’stard so I have to accept that you are likely to be right on this. I have only gone by the press where everything she has tried to do has been decried as breaching human rights etc. I am perfectly willing to accept that it's 'political cowardice' as I believe the majority of people would be happy to see the rubber boats forcibly returned to France.
