Personally I think Macron is a nasty wanker and she is an even nastier wanker. I don't trust either of them
That'll be because they're both French Marty.

It's a nation of cowardly weasels. We should have let the Germans have them. In exchange for them not trying it on over here. Millions of lives would have been saved. And future generations of ungrateful French. Might have come out of it with a bit more backbone?

Well we tend to think that every Frenchie in WWII was a Partisan member of the Allo Allo style resistance but much of the country were quite happy to let the Krauts lord it over them. Vichy government and all that and they got pissed off that the Resistance kept causing trouble. I think Hitler would have been happy to leave Britain alone (at least for a while) but inevitably we would have had to do fight, die or surrender. Let's face it, if the Germans had invaded Britain there would have been plenty here who would have just accepted the new regime too. What makes the Ukrainians so remarkable as far as I am concerned is that so many of them are showing backbone and determination to defend their people and their homeland or die trying that is far beyond what I reckon our own population would produce against an invader. They are an example of courage and determination to the whole fuckin' world.

The Frenchies were really pissed off with us Brits in WWII when we attacked and destroyed their navy's ships 😂

If the Ukrainians have an advantage over us in defending our homeland, it is possibly because they have not been infested yet with insipid self-destructive woke PC culture.

Churchill had to make a decision, Those ships would have fallen into German hands "so" he ordered what had to be done to stop that.
we always ignore that there was a large portion of europe pro Nazi including Vichy France and a look at the list of SS regiments indicate the amount of foreigners willing to fight for them.

@Steve 998cc While I have no doubt there are plenty of us Brits willing to fight there are plenty, and it's probably true for most nations, who will argue that we shouldn't fight, will throw their lot in with the invader in the hopes of personal gain or will run away. If you look back into History you have the Celtic tribes who were busy fighting among themselves when the Romans turned up. Some tribes fought the Romans, some tribes asked Rome what was 'in it for them' if they helped Rome out and others welcomed them with open arms as 'new, windswept and interesting'. I am sure the same held true when the Vikings turned up and the Normans and would have been the same with the Nazi's. Pre-WWII of course the Scottish National Party and the Irish Republicans both were interested in assisting Germany in return for a wee bit of power in Scotland and Ireland. I don't doubt that the Sturgeon would happily do the same with Putin and of course we mustn't forget Oswald Moseley and his Black Shirts and Edward the eighth who would have liked Roles in the Third Reich. Even now, if you cast a beady round comments online etc. there are plenty of British people trying to make excuses for poor old Putin and the murders being committed under his orders and warning that 'we shouldn't make waves' because Putin might attack us next. I don't believe that they truly believe that Putin has any justification and are merely scared for their own skins lest the beast look their way.

I do sense a slow realisation around Europe and USA that Putin and his regime has to go, I believe your dead right @MartytheMartian there are a lot of apologists and consci’s about making excuses (France and Germany) but I genuinely can’t see him stopping at the Donbas!

Leaving him in power will give Europe a death of a thousand cuts over years, we should go in mob handed now:( and if that means WW3 then so be it….

And I am certain it has already been modelled and gamed as we speak…

Put a price on Putin's head, I sure there are plenty in Russia who would do it it the price were high enough, and financing a small army within would be far cheaper than head on conflict... just an idea 🤔
Putin's entire position is contingent on maintaining the conditions sidekicks to make iffy money. He's created the very situation he most fears - the wish for a more reliable replacement.

You know I was watching a program recently about Julius Caesar and his conquest of the Gauls, which was followed by his dictatorship of Rome and then his assassination and it was hard not to see parallels with Putin only, so far, Putin hasn't been able to enjoy the levels of success that Caesar had.

The EU countries have paid Putin £35 billion for gas and oil, since the war started. The world combined, have given Ukraine, just £1 billion in weapons and other aid in that time. So much for sanctions eh. A report i saw yesterday, said that, until that stops, Putin is just laughing at us, and can continue for as long as he pleases. So the EU, is happy to pay for the slaughter of women and kids, and will continue to do so, rather than give up their trade with Russia. Fucking incredible.

The German Chancellor has only just got the job. His predecessor nailed Germany to Russian energy. There would be riots if he pulled the plug and you can see him wanting summer to arrive before making big cuts. Apart from that the current EU Commission President, the fragrant Ursula, left German forces waving broomsticks and pretty much the entire Tornado force grounded for lack of spares when Minister of Defence.

Give Germany time and see if and how they reorientate. Right now they must feel themselves up a well known creek. The Schnitzelwiesel will amplify/corroborate/correct!

Putin? He's not laughing at all. He may appreciate the irony but he's haemorrhaging fighting capability, sustainability (his ability to keep going) and political credibility. It's a lethal combo for him. The clock ticks for him too.

I hope you are right, i really do. I watched the bombing of the railway station in Ukraine yesterday. And the killing of 50 women and kids. The looks on the faces of those poor bastards, running from the scene, put a fucking great lump in my throat. Just as they thought their suffering was coming to an end, and they could escape the carnage, on that train. They had that happen to them. I cant even begin to imagine how they must all feel.
