Keep us posted how that goes Jez

I fear the last sentence you wrote may be a problem  the sensible thing to do bit:p
Give it 48hrs & I reckon that ciggie case will be full again Nick 😗

I've worn a slow release nicotine patch once on a long haul flight & the results were impressive.
The only reason I purchased lozenges, is because they create less residual mess than chewing gum.

I have never understood the attraction of taking dried vegetation, stuffing it in your mouth and setting fire to it.

SWMBIO has been through the whole gamut of fags, cigarillos, fags again & vaping. She now has a nasty gum habit. I worked out at current prices that something over £100k of taxed disposable income has been variously flamed or spat out over the last 40 yrs.

Puts the odd bike into perspective……

There seems to be 3 main reasons to quit smoking Sarky.
In no particular order...
1) The cost.
2) Health reasons.
3) Pressure from other people.

In my case
1) The cost was never an issue because I wasn't purchasing it at the rip off UK prices.
2) I have no known health issues as a result of smoking. Possibly because hand rolling baccy doesn't contain anywhere near the same amount of harmful stuff as ready made ciggies. The various stuff that keeps them burning has been linked to cancer cases.
3) The only person that gives me any shit about smoking is my Mum. Mainly because she's exactly like most other reformed smokers! 😏

Over the years I have smoked cigarette's, roll-up's, a pipe and cigars. I have never 'needed' tobacco though and can choose to smoke or not when I feel like it. I must admit I do particularly enjoy the pipe because it is a ritual as much as anything else and allows you to puff away while deep in thought about life, the universe and everything, especially when a really nice, fragrant tobacco is used. For that reason, after two years since I last puffed a pipe I am contemplating puffing the pipe again at least occasionally. Einstein devised a physical law of pipe smoking and considered it to be a necessity in his life.

I stopped smoking cigarettes a few years ago (vape now) but when I really get the urge for smoke the old pipe comes out - can’t beat it with a good whiskey (y)

I think yourself, Marty & Holy Shit should be publicly flogged with barbed wire. Then vinegar should be rubbed into the open wounds & your cigarettes/pipes should be stubbed out on your scrotum! 😏

How was that Nick?
I'm practicing to be one of those sanctimonious w@nkers who wave their arms about around smokers. Whilst pulling a face like they have lemon juice in one eye & a dog turd jammed up each nostril! 🙂

Not bad for starters, although your missing the imperious superior look that’s needed to really carry off the ex smoker sainthood look 😃 😃
Oh and you have to learn to tut and roll your eyes at the same time(y)

I stopped smoking Marlboro reds when they went up to 80p a packet
80p for 20!!! 😳
When in the 1950's was that?
Prepare for a shock Chas.
20 Marlboro red are now.......

And some non smokers have the brass neck to say smokers are a burden on the NHS.
Considering what 20 Marlboro cost elsewhere in the world. At least £10 of that must be tax! 🥴
Smokers should be given a medal for their selfless acts of bravery 😉

On another note.
Just tried the first one of those lozenges.
Jeezzzus H Christ, they hit the mark! 😳
The rest will be getting snapped in half.
Apart from perhaps the first one of the day?

Back in the 70's I can remember one of our group smoking John Player Specials...flash git with more money than sense as they hit the heady heights of 50p for 20...how feckin much
What was an average hourly rate back then HT?
I'm just trying to get an idea of how much ciggies have been taxed since then.

As a wild guess I think the Ford car workers were on about £20 a week, I on the other hand was a farm worker on £9 a week
