Unfortunately (if you are buying) KTM's hold their value, even the release of the Gen 3 did little to affect Gen 2 prices, as I found out when I was looking getting one with low miles AND in budget (£9K for me) was impossible, hence why I ended up with a Gen 1 with 10K on the clock.

Depends what you really want, is it really a Triumph or would you always be thinking I wished I'd bought a Superduke?

The used KTM I put up had everything on it extra's wise that most people in the market are after, if you wait until winter prices always take a dive. The new unsold 2020 model Gen 3's are being discounted already, that or they come with tech/track pack included for around £15K, competitive finance deals on offer too, there's always more than one way to skin (or poison) a cat!

My season is over so no rush to buy, just rather have her sat in the garage so I can oogle when I am feeling shit

In that case I would wait, keep you eye on the market as normally a lot of bikes come up for sale when the 'season' ends, you will probably get more bike for your bang when they have been for sale for a while, as winter sets in the prices drop.

One of my mates that came away on the trip swapped his 765RS in for a brand new 1050RS back in March, was complaining while we were away that he kept getting false neutral between 4th & 5th, I told him it was a common problem that Triumph were aware of, he wasn't impressed!

I've just read on the other forum a history of issues with the RS QS, not just on the 2019 but the 2020 also. Smashed gearboxes false neutrals jeesh. Might stick with the 765RS now.

It put me off the Speed Triple altogether, the Street is a better bike IMHO.

However, for what it is worth this is my take on how things can go.

I had the original 990 Superduke from new in 2007, loved it owned it until 2012 when due to a dramatic change in circumstances meant I had to sell it, gutted!
Then had a few years of riding older 'do me ups' bought cheap done up & moved on for a profit, ended up with a Tuono Gen 1 which I was reasonably happy with for a couple of years. Things improved financially by 2016 & I px'd the Tuono for a 675R, cracking little bike that was, in the meantime KTM launched the 1290R, a mate bought one, I had a go & was smitten.
At that point the KTM should have been my next purchase, but having loved the 675 then seeing the 765RS launch I was swayed towards that, added to this I found one with less than 300 miles on it & only 6 weeks old for £1500 below new price, it was that or a 2 year old Superduke for the same sort of money, I went for the nearly new 765RS.

Fast forward & although the 765 was a great bike, I just found it a little lacking when we went to Spain among bigger capacity bikes, I ended up swapping it for a KTM RC8 when I got back, this didn't end well as I wrote it off after barely 3 weeks, had a couple of years without road bikes as a result, another doer upper followed, sold for a nice profit, but then in March this year purchased the bike I should have bought 4 years earlier.

The moral of the story is, don't fuck about or compromise, buy the bike that you really want.

Sorry if I went on a bit!

A mate of mine, who previously had a Street Triple 765, Panigale, Superduke, R9T & Tuono v4 decided to trade the 765 for a Speed Triple RS. The Speed Triple lasted less than a month before he traded back for another 765, he thought the 765 was just a better bike 😮

had my grandson round (we pick him up from school every thursday) and he told me n the missus we are the best grandparents ever and he loves us , he is only 5, i nearly shed a tear.
as a counter he was telling us about having a car nicked out of his bag at school today (he was very upset at the time) and then later on said "when i see the teacher next week i am going to tell her miss some arsehole has pinched my car" . i had to walk out of the room as i was on the verge of pissing myself laughing.

Have a good look around Lee get yourself better and have fun choosing,

Leave the wank mags alone for a while and pick up some bike mags or online reviews instead of porn sites and you will be well armed to purchasing the bike
Would also recommend the model specific bike forums, owners tend to be a bit more honest than journo’s whose publications rely on advertising from the manufacturers.
