What’s made you happy for a change

Merc went to see the officials armed with their barrister.
I wonder if that bit of corner cutting on the first lap will get a mention during their complaint? 🤔

I get that the outcome of today was hugely important to both teams. But the sport itself seems to take a backseat to the team/driver egos.

There’s plenty of bungs in football!
The main reason I doubt it, is the fact the radio comms between the drivers & pit crew are monitored (unless they have a secure channel as well?)
Therefore they'd have had to prearrange that crash prior to the start if the circumstances required it?
Obviously, all of that is possible. And bearing in mind what was at stake. It's definitely not out of the question.
However, I'd like to think such corruption hasn't made its way into motorsport. The way it has in several ball sports.

It’s quite simple to tell someone with no skin in the game that a safety car on Lap X or pitfall signal gets £150k into a numbered account with the following access code if you scatter debris here. You only need to overcook it a whisker and Ker-ching. Racing incident. It’s virtually undetectable. I merely entertain the possibility of it being a great way to close the field and secure an advantageous tyre change. From my former professional perspective you would game a number of options and select as events unfolded. Execute option omnicron now! Roger, wilco, out!

I wish Mercedes luck with their appeal. Personally, I find Hamilton to be an obnoxious hypocrite, but I have no particular liking for Verstappen either. They are both overpaid playboys and very privileged to be driving super cars at the expense of big business. I want the winner to be the one who drove within the rules and want an accurate interpretation of them.

As a parting statement, Michael Massi seems to be as useful as Bozo.

I haven't watched F1 since Schumacher retired from Ferrari

I used to be a big F1 fan, and was really excited and proud in 1998 when I landed a job working for a team. I had that job for about 6 1/2 years, but I have not watched any F1 for years, because of too many rule changes, the lack of character and honesty, and because it is now such a bore fest.

And even when I was working in the industry, nearly everyone thought Hamilton was an obnoxious arrogant twat.

The thing is, if I'd had the life Lewis or Max have had, I'd probably have grown up a much bigger twat!

On balance, I think the pair of them have emerged from the circus quite well. And they are both phenomenal drivers.

I wanted Max to win simply for a change - I've nothing against Lewis. Didn't want to see Christian Horner's smug face, but we've followed Max and he deserved a WDC.

Would have preferred him to have won it in straight racing, but whatever the stewards decided would have been controversial, so all things considered that was the right decision.

I just stumbled over a picture I took a couple of years ago on the day, I picked up my Svartpilen (Black Arrow) and rode it home through the forests.
Surely this is one of those “not everybody’s darling“ bikes but I find the lines still intriguing.

But what made me happy when looking at the picture was the memory of the warm sun on my face and the lightheartedness I felt, just standing there, looking at a new bike that was so much fun to ride, in the middle of nowhere.

I like those Huskys actually. Never ridden one but the premise ticks a lot of boxes for me
