@DD67 I really gotta get to visit you and get that gizmo fitted..
I'm intrigued...
Still got your bloody Dubliner and Baileys to deliver from Christmas yet...πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ¦†
PM sent Duck...

But FYI, those figures I just quoted are standard.
I've got a brand new tuning box for it. But it's still sat in its box. Partly because I didn't want to risk Merc spotting it & claiming it invalidated the warranty. And partly because it's feckin awesome without it fitted πŸ˜ƒ

Now the warranty has expired. I'm "considering" swapping the internals of the rear diff.
The ratio I have in mind will drop the top speed to around 137mph. But it should crack 0-60mph in 5 secs πŸ˜ƒ

Now I really am seriously happy for you mate...
I love being in the Duckmobile and if that car does it for you that's brilliant and you should keep her even if she costs you a couple of quid now and then πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ¦†
Thanks @BAD LUCK DUCK much appreciated(y)

The bit I really enjoyed was listening to my daughter scream as the needle went past 90:p

Sometimes I wonder whether I should ever have been allowed to be a parent🀣🀣

My role models are Charlie Bronson (the criminal, not the movie star) Peter Sutcliffe, Reggie Kray & Vladimir Putin.

You made the shortlist Duck. But in the end I decided against it, as you're simply too hardcore 😳
With all my experience..
Peter Sutcliffe stands for everything I fought against all my life...
Krays is business is business..
Charlie Bronson the prisoner I'd rather not comment on...
Putin..fuck it..def con one...πŸ¦†

It was just a joke Duck.
My role model is anyone who goes out of their way to help someone less fortunate/down on their luck. And expects nothing in return except a thank you πŸ™‚

Turbo diesels are all about huge dollops of effortless torque πŸ™‚
You get all the shove of a larger petrol engine without having to rev the tits off them. Hence the much better mpg.

Mrs DD's Merc will do 50mph at 1000rpm in top gear πŸ˜ƒ
At 2000rpm you're doing licence losing speeds 🧐
It's not just rpm.....

Volume for volume Diesel fuel contains about 10-15% more energy than petrol. They're more thermally efficient running at hotter temperatures and producing higher cylinder pressures at lower rpm before you even add a turbo. And unlike a petrol engine, when lift off you needed the merest vapour to keep it running. Spark ignition still needs a stoichiometric fuel/air ratio.

However they need to be built like brick shithouses and weigh a ton, the clattery wee sulphurous smokers!

After months of fannying around and with lots of helpful tips from @DD67. Today I braved the South Kent Marsh people and bandit country in the Medway towns to pick up the new car(y)

A 2015 VW Golf TDI 1.6 Bluemotion - claimed 80mpg if I can get in the 50’s I’ll be over the moon:)

Sorry for the crap picture bodywork is spotless, all nice and clean, high mileage at 103k but FSH and well looked after(y)

Already done 100 miles today and am really impressed with its handling and road holding, Instills great confidence, she does shift for a 1.6 diesel- I really get why these are so well liked - great car even though it looks like a used tampon:D
We've had a couple of A3s with the same 'donkey' installed and they work well. Good solid buy mate.

I've got 2011 2.2 Turbo diesel Toyota rav 4 got it when it was 4months old stillonly got 65k miles it's never cost me a penny other than tyres and service. 33mpg round town and around 52mpg on a mixed driving run,and it used to return 40mpg towing a 17' caravan. It does smoke and is always well inside thr emission limits on the mot.

Talking of cars making you happy apart from all my old turbo nutta cars I have been impressed with my humble little Honda Civic 2.2 diesel not bad on fuel 50 t0 60 on a long run and 40 the rest of the time and I get great pleasure dusting performance cars off the lights, well used to don't bother too much these days but did laugh when I beat a lad in a Skyline from one set of lights to the other 1/4 mile away, should have seen his face, but he did take it well.

If they can get that through the house then they are on to a winner, I bet every liberal for miles will be up in arms about it yet they still complain nothing is being done to curb the problem.

It sounds like a great idea on paper Don.
But you can bet your bottom dollar that several bed wetting lefties will be screaming about human rights issues 😏

In our fluffy liberal society where everyone is supposed to walk on eggshells re the issue of illegal immigration. It took some balls to even suggest the idea.
Could it be a publicity stunt to divert attention from "Party Gate"? Or am I just a suspicious old git? πŸ€”

Surely not! 😁😁
I hope it's the real deal Chas.
Leaflets should be handed out in Calais informing them of the new arrangement.
It might stop them attempting the crossing. Thereby reducing the income stream for the people traffickers & potentially save lives.

I just can't help thinking the proposed arrangement is far too good to be true πŸ€”

It's a feckin long walk back to Calais πŸ˜‰
