I don’t actually accept the ‘official reason‘. It’s much more complicated and rooted in the original post 1947 agreement that saw Gurkhas being recruited into the British Army and the newly independent Indian Army; previously they had all been Indian Army.

Ostensibly there was to be common terms of service under the tripartite agreement between Nepal, India and the UK. In reality the British offer was much the more attractive and we were first choice for recruits. British rejects then did Indian selection and doubtless still do. We offered all sorts of perks beyond pay and pensions. The end of Hong Kong ended the charade with UK basing of Gurkhas. However, making Gurkhas the same price as UK personnel is a double edged sword. Once you do that their relative limitations become an issue……. Great light infantry but you can get too dewy eyed. They take disproportionately long to train to drive and are not exactly traffic savvy. Furthermore this issue relates to a dwindling population of older soldiers. It gets more complicated still with UK service compromising natural immunity to Nepalese conditions and early deaths on retiring to Nepal. So, plenty Gurkhas now want to retire with their families in the UK on the same terms as UK counterparts….. and this becomes another immigration stream…….?

Gurkhas very welcome and should be rewarded/supported, people who have fought to protect our country... as opposed to the thousands from other nationalities we've allowed in, of whom many want to fight against our country.

I Understand your reply @Sarky B’stard and can see that there would be complications, It's just that to my thinking if we are so free to give money away to those who have done nothing for us why not make the Gurka service today equal, when we moved out of what was RAF Kinloss and handed it over to the Army they based an Engineer Regiment at the base and a large portion of those troops are Fijian, great lads and lasses and contribute the same as standard British troops, I just think those that serve and put their lives at risk for the UK should be equal in all aspects

when it looks to me more like just an opportunistic attack on someone (anyone) passing, and possibly an inviting target to them being in a convertable Merc 🤔

Don't go driving through Coventry in your hairdressers car with your roof down DD ;)
The next news report would contain images of the heads of Coventry council estate residents on spikes & an egg in each eye socket.
With me claiming I did it because I had a deprived childhood 🙂

Don’t disagree but we recruit overseas because the pay doesn’t attract enough of our natives. There’s a message in there somewhere.
When I first joined up I played rugby with a previous draft of Fijians from the late 60s who had put in a few hard yards….

Hermes (aka the worse courier company on the planet!)

An item the seller promised me 2 days ago. Has experienced a "logistical issue" within the Hermes network 😏
No idea what that actually means, but my guess is they've either lost it or broken it! 😡

I Just had a refund [minor amount] from a seller as the item went walkabout and never received also advertised as using Royal mail but ended up with Herpes
When the effects of Covid were at their highest.
I found Hermes more reliable than Royal Mail.
And sending stuff via Hermes rarely causes me a headache. Unfortunately, receiving items via them is a total lottery.
I guess my local Hermes distribution network sucks!

I wish I had about a foot wider to move around in this bloody tin box, but that would have caused issues for the boss. I could do with it being the tardis!

It's impossible to get down the side to get underneath. Well, when I say impossible, I can get down but sod getting back up.

Oh and my fkin arm! I need two to unloosen engine bolts, and I don't have the strength to hold the spanner - which considering I can't ride for God knows it doesn't really matter, but you know what its like when you have something to do.

I've attached some items to the sides but it's that friggen great big tool box!

Moan over.

I'm going to put some shelving up, I don't want to drill through galvanised steel, but if I treat the holes with filler and add some zinc spray, t will be fine.

I could get some 15mm OSB cut to size of the back panel, glue two together making 30mm and mount the brackets accordingly. It's only holding canisters oils, lubricants bits and bats.

In a shed like that, floor space is at a premium. You will probably see the area least used is the eaves about head height and above. You (& any other idiot!) can whack up a frame in CLS https://www.diy.com/departments/rou...-l-2-4m-w-89mm-t-38mm-pack-of-6/492782_BQ.prd
with 4 uprights and an arrangement something like this:

If your 2x4 horizontals are set on edge I.e. 4” deep you will happily support oil and a bit of weight over the span. Use your OSB for the shelf material and a good lick of paint or varnish will make it less prone to giving you splinters!

The horizontal braces to the far wall are set right at the top and 2x2 will suffice. It’s just to prevent any topple forward. They want to be an interrupt fit when screwed or bolted and above the height of the entry.

How do I screw/bolt the horizontal braces? To the structure itself?

The horizontals just need shoving against the far wall then screwing to the opposite shelving uprights….. both of them, to provide horizontal rigidity. The front upright wants 2 screws at slightly different heights. 6mm x 90mm for the meaty joins! Seeing your plastic stack, I would take measurements to incorporate it into the build and maximise space utilisation.
Sit down, draw what you want with dimensions and produce a materials list.

If those OSB panels are solidly affixed, ditch the topple bars and screw into them. Some little right angle brackets will suffice.
