I've taken everything on board and it's safe to say, fuck that, too much hard work, too much outlay for not enough reward.

KISS.

In my house already.

x4 Galvanised coach bolts
x2 Brackets
x2 Scaffolding planks
x1 18mm OSB for bracket support
x1 Clear bathroom sealant
x1 Zinc galvanising spray

Cost: Ā£0.00

Use some 25mm penny washers on the outside to spread the weight / load, that 1.2mm steel will deform as easy as fuck.
Well it will do with the copious amounts of KY jelly and pervy mags you are going to store on those shelves.
Get a strong fixing for the sock as well!;)

I have them and I am using a cut down scaffolding plank on the inside, not the OSB as its a good inch thick. Tbh there's not much more than 8kg going to be held on the shelving, but, to be sure to be sure.

If you use @smib's penny washer idea. Not only will it spread the load but you could use 4 & clart the side that'll touch the metal inside & outside in that bathroom sealant you have.
That should form a good airtight seal.
