Actually some interesting legal angles here from the criminality to failures by the Land Registry and conveyancing solicitors and their insurers. As a basic proposition the purchaser cannot acquire legal title from anyone except the legal owner (nemo dat quod non habet!) - just like buying a stolen car in good faith doesn’t mean you don’t lose both the car and the money. All civil legal remedies are against the crook and possibly anyone acting on his behalf.
I suspect there will be losers all round because the victim gets a remodelled, stripped house minus his possessions. The purchaser is left chasing the crook and the police are probably pursuing enquiries overseas with minimal prospect of success. Luton……well that narrows it down. In the middle there are arguments about compensation and blame apportionment but nobody gets 100%.

The article I read yesterday about this incident noted that the land registry has already paid out many millions in compensation recently due to failing to check correctly if land and property was genuinely owned by sellers.

I am sure it would be racist to speculate about many of the perpetrators but these sorts of ‘get rich quick’ schemes generally require a bolt hole and a means of off-shoring the loot.

This reminds me of when my mate off the Invincible went home on leave to Scotland, to his parents home, after we'd just got back from a 9 month jolly to t'far east. He walked in to t'house, and a strange bloke jumped up off t'settee and asked who he was. He replied by asking what the fuck was this chap doing in his home. Turns out that his parents had not only moved, they'd emigrated to South Africa, and not told him!!! Oh, how we laughed when he came back on board!

Not boiling my piss as such but really baffling me..... Am I really that out of step with the world?
I have noted a few items on the internet in passing about some geezer or restaurant or something called Salt Bae and how very expensive it is to eat at this dining destination. Something must be seriously wrong with me or something because I have occasionally seen videos of this fellow trying to look 'cool' while sprinkling salt on meat and such and my general reaction is 'Who is this pretentious greasy wanker who is trying to act like sprinkling salt on steak is a talent' and things in a similar vein. It certainly hasn't made be desperate to take out a bank loan and spend a few grand on a steak and some chips. Either the world is insane or I am!
