Starting to have a deep seated dislike of the NHS? I've had a general dislike of them since around 1995 when they operated on me as I had a major stomach pain (following on from having done my back in carrying an engine) that they diagnosed as appendicits. After they whipped my appendix out I tried to find out if it had actually been necessary (just out of curiosity) and the surgeon wouldn't tell me on his rounds and then at the post op 'check-up' the medico wouldn't tell me and for a number of weeks afterwards I had the same chronic pain I had been admitted to hospital for until, one day, there was a sort of 'snap' in my side and I could stand up properly again but, by then I was suffering from quite severe pain in my groin which has since been diagnosed as most likely 'adhesions' and scar tissue from the surgery and I have had that pain ever since then, around 2005 I was operated on for a stone in a salivary gland. Woke up to be told that they had failed to remove the stone despite slashing around at the inside of my mouth and, a couple of weeks later, in agony I discovered that one jagged part of the stone was jammed in the duct under my tongue and, with a hell of a lot of bloody pain I forced that bit out myself and I can tell you that doesn't half make yer feckin' eyes water! At the 'post op' the Surgeon a wee bastard Iraqi cnut asked the nurse and his assistant or whoever he was to leave the room before admitting to me that he had ballsed up and failed to clamp off the duct or something so, when he tried to grab the stone is disappeared back into the salivary gland where he couldn't get at it. Asked me what I would like to do about the stone now and I said I had heard there was an ultrasound technique that could be used to shatter the stone and he agreed to make that happen for me. Well, about six or eight months later I get an appointment for the Suffering Genital Hospital in Govan, Glasgow. Got up there and they said that they would love to try the technique on the stone but, as their machine was on the blink and the hospital administration refused to pay for repair they were in the process of building up a casload to try and persuade the administration to pay for repair or rental of another machine and I should go away and call in a year to see if they were up and running again. After a year I called and they told me there was no change and to call again in another year. The stone in the gland seems to have disappeared on it's own now although the scar tissue means that I have an infection/flare up in the gland roughly every six months but I have decided that I wouldn't let the NHS near it ever again. Quite frankly they are largely fuckin overpaid arseholes in my opinion.
About a year ago I was talking to a guy from down in New Zealand and he was saying he had exact same problem. He went into hospital down there and, without even putting him under they went straight down the salivary duct, broke up and dug out the stones on the spot and even stretched the duct so any future stones would pass out easily. Night and day between our shite system and theirs.
