But why FFS? They are not migrants, they are illegals!

And the liberals/lefties that oppose border control are responsible for their deaths, assuming the four have drowned, because if the migrants know crossing the channel would not be rewarded and was a pointless exercise, then they wouldn't attempt it.

Parents!

We live near a primary school so you have to accept the incredible number of parents that drive their podgy offspring to school and pick them up each day.

But today it must be sports day or something as the road has remained chocka all day - getting in and out of the drive is a real challenge with the awful parking.

At least its raining on the wankers!

My guess is a "Speed Awareness Course" aka approx 5hrs of being patronised by some c#nt less qualified to use the road than yourself Duck.
He/she will desperately try to convince you it's all about road safety & not about revenue generating.
All whilst referring to stopping distances that were printed on the back of the Highway Code 50yrs ago. When some vehicles had cable operated drum brakes & skinny cross-ply tyres.
Their other favourite bit of bullshit propaganda is to tell you it takes 6 metres further to stop at 31mph. Than it does at 30mph.
It's utter boll#cks but try to bite your tongue, smile sweetly & endure it for the duration.

Oh BTW....The pleasure of listening to all that bullshit. Will cost you approx £90 😏
But you'll avoid getting any points if you manage not to chin the sanctimonious prick hosting the course? 😉

And you can do them on line in the comfort of your own home(y)

And it’s about 3 hours now - the rest of what Jez said is spot on:)

I'd love to get my hands on the data re the number of speeding fines issued in 1981 V's 2021.

i.e 1981 being back in the day when you had to do something to attract the attention of the Cops. And be stupid enough not to see the Cop car before you did said stupid act. Even then if you were respectful/apologetic the Cop had the opportunity to exercise some discretion in how he dealt with you.

2021 being the era of many less Cops on the beat/roads. But the era of camera vans & handheld Police radar greed traps deliberately placed in locations likely to generate the most revenue. When was the last time you saw such a set up in a known accident black spot? 🤔

Not to mention their patronising lies that it's all about improving road safety. Whilst threatening social media users with a £1000 fine for publishing the location of speed traps.
Surely, they should be thanking those folk for reducing the possibility of speeding in said locations? 🤔
Also they claim that offence is "Obstructing a Police Officer in the Execution of their Duty"
Yet (as far as I know) the c#nts in those camera vans are all civilian workers.

I reckon the Duck militia should start blowing up camera vans with ROV's covered in explosives. Or suicide ducks flying into the vans whilst wearing suicide vests 🙂

I have to say that, although I don't know what it's like down in England in rural Scotland and even on the motorways around Glasgow and Edinburgh the police presence seems to be minimal and you have a fifty fifty mix of folks going well under the speed limits and people going well over the limits with complete abandon and fearless of any fines. It's hard to drive around here at the speed limit on a bike as you will have a queue of cars right up your arse dying to get past not to mention other bikers rocketing past at well over the ton. The roads are mental around here and if you get done you are unlucky.

Total opposite down here mate.
They set up traps in areas with no history of accidents.
Ducks description of getting done as he went from a 50mph limit to a 30mph limit is a classic scenario. They'll hide just around a slight bend or where they are obscured by a hedge & just inside the 30mph zone.

I wonder how many accidents are caused by folk feeling the need to stare at their speedo. More than they focus on the road ahead? 🤔

At least in England they have the chance to do the speed awareness course it's not even available in Scotland

I have occasionally seen the unmarked mob lying in wait on the road from the Rest and Be Thankful to Cairndow, long straights and good quality road and that must be a money making exercise as it tempts everyone to open it up with little risk of harm and the real tricky bits of the local roads rarely see police except when they are picking up the pieces. Going into Glasgow the 'norm' it seems is to do at least 10mph over the speedlimit. Sixty in the Fifty, seventy in the sixty and eighty in the seventy and, if you do the limit you become a rolling roadblock.

Something that occurred to me earlier Duck...

I reckon this is the third time in approx 12 months that you've told us you thought you'd been caught speeding. Yet you've never heard any more about it.
Did you inform DVLA that you'd moved out of the place you shared with Mrs Duck?
If not, is she using the letters re speeding offences as fire lighters? The Postman is legally obliged to deliver letters to the address shown on them.
Therefore you could be racking up a huge fine & several points without realising it?

Equally destroying something addressed to Dear Duck which probably looks official could be construed as perverting the course of justice. You can't lawfully destroy mail willy nilly but should return it or forward it if you do know the correct address.....

Duck could reasonably claim malicious intent and massively mitigate if not actually obviate the need to have a current address logged at the DVLA.

Fair comment mate but this is the Police/DVLA we are talking about. They'd both happily take the easy way out & screw Duck.
Unless he got himself a very good solicitor.
