Oh yeah and this boiled my piss at the end of my shift yesterday evening...
I was told in future I have to leave my car keys at work so it can be moved by anyone that needs to move it from other drivers to mechanics office staff or the folk that clean the buses...
I refused on the grounds of...

Not insured...
White leather and dirty mechanics/cleaning staff don't go well...
No one is driving my fucking car full stop...
And covid19 infection according to my employer is so likely that they have a tonne of restrictions in place within the workplace so I threw that in for good measure...
They replied with covid19 restrictions don't apply to others moving my car and implied you can't catch covid19 like that...The hypocrisy really pisses me off...

I told them to go fuck themselves...

I think I need another job....
Do the other drivers have to leave their keys?
Sounds like boll#cks to me. Keep on telling them to f#ck off Duck!
Or park off site or right up the corner of the yard out of everyone's way.
As for the covid restrictions allowing others to move your car. That's utter boll#cks mate. Phone any large car dealer & ask if you car sit in/test drive any of their vehicles without them being disinfected before or after.

Hey up Duck , A few questions if you dont mind
1 are you a member of the union
2 do you park in the allotted drivers car park
3 has any other driver been asked to hand their keys in to their personal vehicle
If so and you are the only one being asked then this is discrimination and they are trying to get a response from you , if you respond and they go down the disciplinary route then you can prove " constructive " ie they have purposefully tried to set you up , both highly illegal and unethical

Nearly all the other drivers comply...The few that don't park off site which is dodgey as owt with all the lorries and other traffic on the main drag...

In that case you're a bit screwed mate. If it's their policy & others are complying. I guess you'll have to tow the line?
Or use their Covid policy against them as a way of not handing over the keys.

Are they ensuring that all door handles, steering wheel, gear lever, handbrake are being sprayed with appropriate cleanser before and after anyone other than the owner moves a vehicle. That's what they do at our place.

I could have sworn I just typed out a reply to you @flso my apologies if something similar occurs on another thread people...
Most drivers comply...Those that don't park off site on the main drag which is dodgey as owt with all the quarry trucks and other traffic...
We do have a union but they are a bunch of pussies..reps are all yes men and commie left wing liberals..I am a member as the union acts as a buffer until I can get proper legal advice as I find the union misleading and it doesn't represent its members properly and more often than not deliberately gives wrong advice and works in best interests of the company not the employee..
Paying for a proper legal consultation as saved me many a time and put me in a powerful position over my employer..I advise anyone to do the same..
I recently said I was going to put myself forward as a rep...The drivers loved the idea.Employer not so much..😉

I love as you get older how you can seemingly injure yourself whilst asleep and wake up with a brand new twinge or pain.

Ain't that the case.

I have now reconciled my self to the fact that now I am in my late 50s I will never be '100%' again.

You know when you were young you were always 100% and then something would knock you down a bit and then you'd be back to 100%. These days, if it ain't one thing knocking me back it's another - there ain't a gap anymore.

Exercise is simply to hold back the tide - I ain't gonna be getting any fitter now!

That and to stay slim and sexy of course

Your reps stand for 3 years , at the end of their term you just need a Union member to propose you and another to second you , the members say who they want to represent them and if voted in correctly the management HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO ACCEPT THAT DECISION , i have done it for over 30 years and you can really have some fun ;)

I would want written indemnity for any damage occasioned to your car from someone authorised by the company. The Road Traffic Acts apply not just to the public highway but to areas to which the public have access..... so if there is no secure barrier......

They may have strong armed colleagues to concede but they can’t avoid the basic law of the land on vehicle insurance and surrounding issues like your express permission without which you could be liable for ‘permitting’. It is an offence to cause or permit someone without insurance to drive a vehicle without insurance. So if you allow a friend or colleague to drive your vehicle and they do not have insurance, you will commit the offence of permitting them to drive without insurance. It’s NOT a company car and can’t be treated like one. They CAN however require you to park off site because parking facilities are probably not offered in your employment contract.

Pick your fight carefully.

Somehow I missed this earlier...All buses are supposedly wiped down by each driver as they enter/exit vehicles..I know for a fact this rarely happens...
