MartytheMartian
Legendary Knight
I regularly search my Sky box for classics when it takes my fancy but little shows up and often when it does it's in their 'store' and they want extra dinero for them. A wee while ago it was 'Sahara' with Bogart that I was looking for and no sign of it. When the missus watched the new Blithe Spirit I went looking for the original so she could see how much better it was but no sign of it on the Sky box.
I must admit that I find the 'This may offend some people' warnings really galling. I have been rather enjoying the old Benny Hill shows that have been showing on Sky channel 187 and they always start with a big orange bar across the screen and after each break with the 'this may offend pathetic twats' label. To be honest, watching them and recalling how much they were slammed for being sexist and misogynistic when they were new and in comparison to what is shown on telly these days without an eyelid being so much as batted they are so tame and lighthearted. Yes the dancers were quite 'provocative' though that was largely in the earliest episodes but there is very little 'sexist' or misogynistic in them when viewed by anyone with half a brain. If anything the women are portrayed as having the power to twist the men round their little fingers.
Last night I have to say I watched a series I never saw first time around - Frankie Howerd's Confessions. Jesus was he ever funny? He certainly isn't in that series!
