Duck. Beautiful dogs and nice photographs. A long haired GSD yes?. I miss mine to this day. I had two dogs - died of old age. Both bought together as pups. A long haired GSD and a Rough Collie - Lassie type.
The GSD was called Radar. Ears constantly swivelling at the slightest sound. She hated men in uniform - can’t think why - lol. Nobody could walk down the house path. Outside okay, but on her territory, no way. She had boundless energy. You could take her for vigorous excercise for four hours and she’d want more.
The Collie, Sandy, had a totally different personality. Whereas the GSD would run through streams and puddles she would walk around them so as not to get her paws wet. If I threw a ball or stick both dogs would rush off fast. About half way the Collie would stop dead, as if to say: ‘Sod this for a game, I always get there first but then you bite me to nick the stick from me.’ She would then rush back before the GSD to get a stroke and a treat. No dumb dog she! Lol.
A lasting memory was when the family was on the Isle of Skye the GSD swam out into a deep Loch and tried to drag in a moored boat from its rope! Madder than a mad dog.
They were certainly part of the family and like all pets leave lasting memories.
Best ever companions. Oh...and ours were also known as ‘The Girls’.
