War with China/Russia

A bit of both I think. With so much support amongst the Western public for Ukraine it makes financial sense to be seen to support them with your products. I don't care if he makes a packet off it if it helps the Ukrainians keep fighting against Putin.

I find it far more depressing that online so many people in the West are now saying "Please everyone keep quiet, big bad Putin has nuclear weapons and if we don't let him continue to slaughter Ukrainians unimpeded and lay waste to their sovereign state he might look in our direction and we don't want to take on this threat to the free world if it costs us anything or means risk to us". Seems we've gone from 'Mutually Assured Destruction' to 'He's got nukes, give him what he wants'.

I’m wondering whether Musk has spotted an opportunity in other peoples hour of need and is exploiting it - no PR is bad PR - due to resource problems in Ukraine they probably won’t be able operate the receiver dishes using generators, and I can’t see solar panels providing a viable solution (if they could find enough panels to create the operating power needed?) as Musk suggests (remember he has previous for daft suggestions - boys trapped in Thailand tunnels!)

I’m not convinced it’s as altruistic as it appears - if it works and helps I will happily eat humble pie(y)

The only Putin apologists I am seeing is a few people in the states - I’ve been quite pleasantly surprised by the unanimity of everyone in not appeasing Putin and standing up to him although Russia appear to be back pedalling from nuclear for now if the Russian foreign secretary is to be believed
Maybe on social media (which I don’t use) it is prevalent?

On social media there is a lot of "for God's sake don't antagonise the Russki's or they might nuke us" going on whenever anyone suggests that we should actually contemplate taking Putin on. I gather some morning TV presenter, think it was one called Susanna Reid? started a panicked 'why are you trying to start a nuclear war' outcry when she was asking Raab about creating a No-fly Zone over Ukraine. I am becoming rather depressed and suspect that once Kyiv falls and all those brave souls who opposed Putin are killed or, more than likely executed by the Russians we as a world will all turn our backs on Ukraine and pretend it never happened. I have little hope for the human race.

As our resident Tactical Expert @Sarky B’stard what is your guess about how things will progress?

Well you flatter me and my crystal balls. However, terminology:

Grand Strategic is supposed to be for politicians taking all sorts of high level specialist advice about national objectives. With hostilities those objectives are converted into military directives about desired outcomes.....

The military bit splits three ways:

1646330250082.jpeg
where the operational level links tactical actions together to achieve strategic success. Tactics can cover anything from one aircraft to a Brigade or Flotilla. We had the odd occasion in NI where a quick thinking Cpl achieved a strategic effect e.g. saving Gery Adams from bleeding out.....

I think your question is more concerned with strategy. What's he trying to achieve and how is he effectively countered/defeated?

My simple answer is we don't yet know Putin's precise aims but you can guess as well as me. You can speculate how events may turn out but there are a range of possibilities from conventional warfare degenerating into guerrilla attacks through to Putin being taken out by his own if he tries to overstep their limits..... whatever they are.

In short your guess is as good as mine and that's for lack of decent intelligence via the MSM.

I am long out of contact with 'sources'. My personal gut feeling is that it will get very much worse and players will get far more desperate and destructive before anyone becomes amenable to reason. It's an unholy mess where the reasoning behind the original decision gets more and more forgotten and logic flies out of the window and is replaced by rage, grief, vengeance, pride etc.

I see a Russian businessman has put a million dollar reward on Putin’s head, which personally wouldn’t motivate me😂
However I wouldn’t be surprised if a much larger sum is being offered .
I’m sure a billion $ would certainly get hold of the right peoples attention to get rid of this nauseating little shit.
I would like to make it clear that the shit above in no way has anything to do with this very reverend holy shit!

I have to say that I feel that if the Russian people don't do something about him and his lackey's soon they will bear as much guilt for what the bastard is doing as he does. I see that one Russian billionaire oilman has demanded that the war against Ukraine stop but it's too little too late. I am saddened to see that India are firmly in bed with Russia too. That's me never going to buy an Enfield a Norton or anything else the bastards make in future.

I read this, and believe it could be right. Putin is no fool, he sent in a weak force to soften up the Ukraines and also to see where their strengths and weakness were, once this has been done he will send in the big boys to mop up.

I had heard that Pakistan were sucking up to Russia and Putin, which does not surprise me one bit, but I am surprised that India is supporting Russia 🤔

I don't buy that for a moment. Russia's Army is overwhelmingly 12 month conscripts and there are precious few 'big boys'. They would have been the paratroops that got mauled seizing Hostomel airfield and they seem to have needed two bites to do that. Artillery is the Russian way of war and they view ground attack aircraft as extended range artillery.
They are badly out of practice, possess few smart munitions but will learn fast enough. They are indiscriminate because they can't discriminate!
