An opportunity for our leftie friends to prove how virtuous they are. They don't have to flap their gums about it anymore. They can now prove what great people they are.

Everyone that calls me a racist for my views on illegal immigrants. Should take in at least one Ukrainian family.
But I won't hold my breath 😏

I hear the Queen is not going back to Buckingham palace, plenty of rooms there...............just saying

I wonder how long it would be before the system would be abused? unless they inspect each one it could just be a garden shed it's happened before.

Absolutely mate!
It'll be abused by the same people that always take advantage of such schemes.
Every dodgy #@*! landlord in the UK is now rushing out to take a selfie with as many a.n.other eastern european families as possible.
Before submitting 10 claims for each family that they aren't housing.

They'll never be prosecuted, even in the unlikely event that they are investigated.

But it'll be fine cos I'm sure there'll be an enormous queue of Guardian readers. All eager to house the refugees 😉

The Russians certainly seem tactically inept. I suspect they really aren't very good because so much of their teaching is still about rehearsed drills that have far more to do with fighting armour in open countryside (where you break down from column of march to tactical units) than the low level initiative you need for built up areas where surprises can be sprung on you so easily. That seems to be mirrored in the air where complex coordination is barely attempted. (You don't fly aircraft through active artillery barrages but you can deconflict them in time and space.) We used to rehearse exactly the sort of attack of their echelons where artillery got them to button down and hit dismounted infantry followed by immediate fighter ground attack then attack helicopters as the dust settled before arriving on our own ground positions.

I just get the impression they are reluctant to dismount and deploy a protective screen of infantry ahead of armour moving through built up areas. Consequently they are wide open to linear ambushes trapping and then chewing up entire columns. It's almost as if they expected tank on tank at 500m+ but are getting hit by hand held weapons at under 50m. A tank blowing its turret off won't leave too much recognisable of its crew.

Maybe they genuinely believed they would be welcomed or overwhelm all opposition..... It's actually pretty difficult to achieve any level of skill with annual conscript turnover because the NCOs training them in basics never themselves learn how to command in contact..... and the officers lack recent experience but tell HQ it's all absolutely spiffing!
What I don't understand and you seem to be in the know is that around seven or eight years ago skirmishes were already happening with Russian troops and the AZOV battalion had regular scrapes with Russian troops...AZOV battalion were then recruited to train American forces in Russian tactics along the border of the Ukraine...
Now everyone acts as of this is something new...it doesn't figure to me...🤔🦆

And the immigrants that are already here, will be sub letting rooms, stacking them with a dozen people,, like you wouldn't believe. And nobody will question it, for fear of being labelled racist.

Supposedly the Russian have lost five SU-25's in Ukraine so far and the Ukrainians have lost three. Given that both sides are using a lot of the same equipment in Ukraine there must be a very high risk of 'friendly fire' incidents.
