Oooh...I never heard that..I used to be very clued up with the word on the street with everythingAh the dreaded Alternator/Regulator rectifier. Is there a bike model that doesn't have a problem with them? Suzuki's used to be bleedin' awful for it and the solution was to fit a new alternator stator and a Honda Superdream Reg/Rec. One of my Bonnie's had a new reg/rec and battery fitted before I bought it because it had gone duff and my Daytona has had hers replaced at some point. It's not as if these are high mileage beaters either!
I don't know if it's the same for the Speed Triple @chas but someone wrote on the Daytona Facebook page that the dealers he bought from replaced his reg/rec with one meant for a 675 and the mechanic supposedly said that was the recommended cure. One thing to note too is that the 'word on the street' is that if your reg/rec and/or alternator stator have gone duff it's probably because your battery is on it's last legs. I think the battery is on it's way out on my Daytona and I think I will be bunging in a new one rather than risking a 'fry-up' in the electrics.
You can't trust the French with all that ooh la la eating snails and that look at my onions malarkey..The origanal sensers were Renault but the ones my lad fitted are a german make he reckons are good kit. Had the same experience with the same firm but played it differently. I just rang up to cancel. Pressed all the buttons in the appropriate sequence. I get through to a switchboard where the accent makes my ears prick up……South Africa. Lovely helpful lady….Insurance companies……..again
Just gone through the nausea of renewal of my car insurance again. Renewal came through at £377 for the Jaaaggg so I got an online quote on the same insurers website - £426.
Then a Moneysupermarket quote - £324 was the cheapest with the extras I wanted. No changes to the policy from last year.
Yep, you’ve guessed it, all 3 prices from the same f@#king insurer, Hastings Direct.
So I’ve just had to spend 45 minutes on the phone to them to get them to honour the price from the comparison site.
Cnuts the lot of em!
Yep, pretty much what I ended up doing though I didn’t say I was cancelling, just said I could get it cheaper than the renewal price.Had the same experience with the same firm but played it differently. May I ask why you are cancelling?
Certainly. I can get it cheaper.
Can we match the offer you have found?
You can try.
OK, who is it with?
You, do you want the quote reference?
Yes please…..
Net result: cheaper than last year.
Let’s just hope the new rules coming in next year will help redress some of this bollocks, though it’ll more likely just mean premiums will increase.Well relying on individual indolence is easy money. Any idea of loyalty in either direction is long gone. It’s highly price competitive to get the mostly safe punter and non switchers are quietly fleeced.
