Hi @Scrappy they are asking £145 for it. located in Northwich. This is the link to the ad https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/393978049082513/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp:43392a80-1118-481b-8d70-a365edd24664

After a little research it would appear that it was an export model from the 1950's and it was actually made by Boosey and Hawkes for export under the Rudall and Carte brand name that they had taken over.

Thanks Marty, I've sent him a message so I'll let you know if I end up getting it 👍

On Monday it was paying 1.60/l for E5, 15p/l differential. Bastards.
Today the heater blower on the car gave up the ghost, was ok this morning (just as well, was bloody icy, traction light flashing half way to work) so was less than great at demisting or heating the old bus. 20 year old car disease but hardly terminal

Something like this will save you having to fix it straight away Chas...

I tried something similar in my old Saab turbo as a stopgap, I wouldn't bother again.

Access to the fan on the Merc isn't bad, I'll try to beg an hour off and some workshop space and DIY or worst case book it in with supplied parts, it's a bare hour's labour

Ahhh. I don't have a heater that will fit one of them.. That's a shame.

Out of interest, did you check the plenum chamber drains? They fill with crap, and the overflow of water ends up in the heater motor, and the passenger footwell eventually. From memory the heater fits very much the same as the Fiat mareas we used to run (have a spare motor or two knocking about for them, but its deeper than the merc version... it's like a hamster wheel! ) on cold days the motor gets stuck in the ice, and can either blow the fuse, or the other outcome is the damp fooks the brushes. So, it might be just a case of fitting new brushes to it.

Apparently merc are going out of their way to kill aftermarket pattern merc parts sales so they can control the market, and thus the prices.

Damn, thought I'd found one online for £37, but wrong fitting...

Be worth finding what other models it fits, maybe find one on a sprinter in the breakers for example. Think they're similar.

Haha, went down that route a couple of years ago, the water was shorting out the resistor and making the fan come on constantly so I no longer have a flooded footwell, they're clear. Good call tho, one of those little known problems that I wasn't aware of till then.

The fan has had an intermittent squeal for a few weeks so I think it's told me in fair time it was going.

A mate had one in his old air cooled VW camper.
I thought it worked well.
Obviously not as good as a heater matrix/fan on a water cooled vehicle. But not shite by any stretch of the imagination.

Ref Don's post regarding BLM's request to boycott white owned businesses this Christmas.
Is that not racism? 🤔

Imagine the huge outcry if the same was suggested about black owned businesses 😳
When all said & done the likes of BLM don't want equality. They want the upper hand.
Unfortunately for them, that mindset creates racists. And does absolutely nothing to further their cause 😏

I'd bet there are as many black folk wishing BLM would shut the f#ck up. As there are white folk thinking exactly the same thing!
A lesson to be learned from history here...
A certain headline appeared in the daily mirror in 1936 I think it was...
Exactly the same tactics being used by BLM and similar organisations...
So many other things happening all the time all over the world..For example..
President Biden administration not allowing container ships loaded with goods into ports and then claiming a shortage exists...
Join all these dots together and it's the same tactics that are used again and again throughout history to destabilise governments destroy nation's and to manipulate public opinion..Ultimately the people end up doing all the dying whilst politicians manipulate and hide behind words like freedom democracy and tyranny...

The whole thing stinks and no one says fuck all...🦆

This should really go in the 'what's made you happy' but...
Hit a lucky pothole halfway into work and the blower fan squeaked into life. Luckily it's in the footwell behind the glovebox so I was able to get access once at work and hose a load of wd40 around in the hope it's dry spindles rather than a weak motor. Might get me out of jail for a bit!
