My grandfather was murdered by a piece of shit burglar..He was housebound his bed was moved into the living room and his armchair was next to his bed..He had sustained wounds during action in 1940 on the northwest frontier...He continued to work after being demobbed all his life..He was murdered with around 3K in lifelong savings ...But you can borrow money for buy to let, or rent out your own mortgaged home (with agreement), only obviously because of my mothers age this is not a possibility. This seems to me to be a government imposed restriction, specifically relating to equity release and care homes, from the little I have read so far.You would think there would be more help for people who are not sponging off the state and providing for themselves. Typical scenario, if you have no assets the government pays, but if you have more than about £23,000 in assets then there is no help whatsoever, and they force you to sell any assets you do have, so much for working hard and saving.
My grandmother was very traumatised by the whole incident and it affected her mental and physical health massively...
Eventually she had to go into a home and the state took everything from her..

Desperately need to sort my rear brakes on the Duckmobile but the weather is atrocious as normal...I think the pads are down to bare metal as you got that horrible scraping sound when you apply the brakes...It's really pissing me off I can't get it done..not to mention how dangerous its becoming and very noticeable with the near miss I had yesterday...

I once got a hire car like that. Drove on the gears back to the depot apart from the last bit where I superheated the brakes and held them on where I stopped in the yard. Hopefully welded them up a bit. Get the house put in a trust, with you, and,or, other family members as trustee's. You can then do what you like with it. My old mans house was sorted about 5yrs ago. After 7yrs the taxman gets fuck all either.My mother following her fall a couple of weeks ago, now needs to be looked after in a care home. She owns her own home, so we came up with a plan to get the maximum from her assets, so as to provide care for as many years as possible. This plan involved releasing some equity out of her house, and then renting the house out to generate an income. However I've just found out that you can't release equity from a property if you are not living in it, even if it is to provide for care

That must be because they gave them power of attorney. The fuckers tried that on with my old mans house, they got told to fuck off. It's in mine and my brothers names.All her assets were previously in a trust, that we only recently managed to get out of, literally weeks before the solicitors managing it went bust, some poor souls had been trying to get their relations assets back for a couple of years even before they went pop. The solicitors were McClures in Glasgow, if you want to read some horror stories check them out.

It's the best most comfortable car ever...it's not fast..you ain't gonna outrun or race anyone in it..it's a luxury heavy cruiser and the feeling I get when I finish my shift and get into the Duckmobile is like coming home...it's a brilliant car and makes driving a relaxed comfortable experience ☺

Fortunately my sister and I have LPA. The McClures thing looks highly dodgy, and I suspect people have lost millions. Makes you wonder how many other companies are doing the same. We were very lucky to get out of it when we did.

My old man nearly got sucked in. My brother went with him, to get set up as power of attorney, but they told him he should have a three, to avoid family disputes. He suggested himself, and his secretary. Which meant, they could out vote him. The dopey cunt nearly went with it too. He has been dealing with the same solicitor for over 50yrs, and trust's them. Like you say, how many others have been fleeced.
